Webley Xocet air rifle issues......

Bought a near mint .22 Webley Xocet air rifle a couple of weeks ago, few years old but very little use.
Had a little time earlier so thought I would zero it in - with standard open sights.
Well what an experience that was I must say..... its all over the shop, maximum hight adjusted, still shooting low, cant get a group even when shooting low, are they spears and not rifles? Definitely more efficient if I threw it at a bird riggt now.
Anyone experienced similar?
TIA

mine is just over 20 years old and still a brilliant little shooter. I'm guessing you have checked all the screws are tight, and the crown is good?
Hi
Yes the crown in like new, all screws present and tight.
I've just ordered a new breach seal, to my untrained eye it looks pretty dry and pale... maybe that is causing it?
Seems a tight well made gun, its pre Turkish manufacturing as has the 14mm seal.
I cant honestly see anything else wrong with it.

If that was the version without a safety catch ,I had one that was a tack driver in .177.
The forend was held together with a jubilee clip as both screws had been snapped off .
I believe I used marksmen pellets in the cardboard little box .Memories ,thanks for reminding me 🤙🏼

Well only two days after ordering the breach seal from Chambers Gunmakers - I can confirm that in between rain showers after fitting the new seal it shoots pretty well 😎 groups all within 30mm at 30ft and came up consistently while adjusting sights, a bit more to be gained but the snorkel and flippers made fine tunning impossible 😂

What pellets did you use? the same as before or a complete change?

BC.
Same as before - diabalo field, it use to be my go too pellet years ago. These came with the gun so will try some variations later. My mince pies are knacked with open sites at 40ft so once I've got it as near as possible with open sights I'll put an old 40mm red dot sight on,.
