Weed killer

Glyphosate will sort gorse. Unfortunately not marestail, not which will. Glyphosate has over doubled in price recently!

Back in the early 70s Wor Nextdoor neighbour was an engine driver ma dad ask him if he cud get any weed killer we had bad patch of weeds brambles bottom of garden ! Week or so passed then came the weed killer gallon can silver wit ☠️On it & 245T underneath 😳😳
To which the neighbour said keep that lil bugger of it meaning me 😂 a small cup full went in watering can dad went of to water the weeds the next day it was brown shriveld & from that day till I left that house many years later nothing ever grew there again
Many years later discovered it was similar to agent orange used in the Vietnam war 😳😳 good times the 70s 😊😊

Ok got a 50m border with a railway line and they do Jack sh1t about their side …. I’ve got a huge area of gravel / chuckies I’m sick and tired of pulling weeds from ….. other side of property long boundary agin rattled with weeds …
What you guys using that’s actually works and isn’t bloody as much use as water ?
Tried getting sodium chloride tubs from Harbro but no longer for sale to general public … seems joe public can’t get hold of anything worthwhile & as for those Tibet spray bottles of round up ? How much???! For what I’d need I’d need to remortgage !

Recommendations of something that
A. Works
B. Won’t kill me along with diesel electric and gas prices !

Or am I searching for Unicom pish again?

Paul
Glyphosate 360 of ebay

If you want a long lasting weedkiller, there is Chikara mixed with Gallup XL and if you don't want to kill grass look at Grazon (you'll see an effect in hours), I find Agrigem a good place to buy from.

Grazon is brilliant for bramble as well. Not that you should be killing too much of it. It's vital habitat. But where it is unavoidable, it is very effective without killing every other underlying species. I've used it to drive back bramble and restore neglected chalk grassland that had become invaded by scrub.

any suggestions for marestail.
As per my previous post, Ammonium Sulphamate.
Plant thinks it is Ammonium Sulphate, a fertiliser, and absorbs it through roots and leaves, but instead of having 4 Oxygen molecules in the Sulphate compound, the Sulphamate has 3 Oxygens and a NH2 Amide group, which kills the plant effectively breaking down cellulosic compounds.
After a period in the ground the Sulphamate degrades to Sulphate.
Mixing with Glyphosate increases the effectiveness by adding an additional systemic herbicide.
A wetting agent ie, washing up liquid, helps with absorption.

Gallup XL for me - I somehow arrived at 120ml per approx 10 litre water for knapsack sprayer. I don't like to use it a lot but life is too short for weeding and it works really well for gravel driveways.

Sadly

Sadly Agent Orange no longer available

My old man used to use something called paracat (maybe spelled differently) - used to be very effective on weeds in our (then ) garden

Your not by chance clearing the embankment so you can put your target gongs up there🤔
Eh???!
Seriously no ! Any projectile leaving my premises / boundary would be illegal .

I’m merely trying to hold back the jungle that’s growing right up against and thru the boundary fence !
I’d do manage to get them to cut back over hanging trees but only to a height of about 2.5m ! The rest the said they don’t do !
Which is no interfering with my amateur radio antenna o net side of property / boundary …any work they have done cut back etc has been left lying so it’s veritable jungle / gel hole on that side … I’d love to blotter the lot in agent orange if I could ! 🤔

so seriously how much do you think a 50 odd metre stretch of wall at 6ft high over uneven grounds going to cost? versus decent weed killer & bit of maintenance that really should be done by railway company but thats not gonna happen either ....

so helpful suggestion cheers
