What a Waste

Had a phone call from a friend who was rowing up a little field next to a road this afternoon.
Roe aren't numerous around here, but are now being seen more. Sadly, a buck was in the field, pushing itself through the grass with it's back legs. I was with him with my rimfire in less than half an hour and dealt with the poor thing. Not somewhere either of us shoot, but no way could it have been left to suffer. Both front legs badly broken and a flyblown wound to a haunch. No doubt such casualties will be more common as the deer increase their range.

Thank you. These events are trivial compared to some things I've seen and dealt with, yet trouble me more somehow. Appreciate the comment.
