What do people think of the hornady eldx?

I regularly switch between the two in testing in my own rifles and of the 17 other cartridges and numerous wildcat cartridges we develop custom ammo for I NEVER clean them before testing and development

They (non lead) dont require any special cleaning regime or routine
If your rifle doesn’t shoot without cleaning it before after or during changing ANY ammo it has a problem specific to that rifle

Its not a thing
Stop perpetuating issues that don’t exist

ELD-X are excellent bullets
I use them exclusively in my 300NM and have shot game at everything from 50-450m with excellent results

I didn’t like the carcase damage on small game using the 6.5-284 (143gr at circa 3150) but the sample size was small
Other rave about them

Proven to be very accurate and very expansive even at range with excellent killing characteristics

But i dont use what you use and as i said one of mine is fine another is not ( its fine with either but it doesn't like swaping straight over it can and shoot either but not without a full clean ) . Because you have not found it in yours does not mean another rifle will one day do similar . I have it in my mind because the bore in that rifle has some pitting its gabbing here and there , messing with the harmonics or something but it certainly occurs as described whatever the reason and it doesnt on the other ( that one has a Sassen barrel with cira sub 300 rounds down it ) Both bedded , both with known and trusted S&Bender Scopes .
As for dirty rifles going back in the safe ? Well very few will do that so the whole world definitely doesn't hang on your every word now does it !

I do find bc important as it’s what makes my digi scope with ballistic calculation so good. It’s pretty common to shoot out to 350m at night in large arable fields. Without it I’d be stumped.

No i do not shoot deer at night at long ranges period AT NIGHT! Why? because its easy to get disorientated getting over to the spot ( that's why we must have a dog when night culling) I have actually never been to a place where you could do that on your authorisation myself ( i thought it was a must have ) I have never night culled deer in England period though not known anyone who had that authorisation either tbf

You thought that at the get go - no other reason to say it ! I seriously still dont know any person who has done night culling of deer under licence in England . Again your sladering me on this , In England i occassionaly shoot CWD and Muntjac, Roe all day of course and then the Sika i have at home blooming big gold medal stags. My stalking started in Scotland and frankly besides Muntjac , CWD North of the border into Scotland there are far more deer ( maybe that might not be for long the way some are being hammered night and day ) .
Night culling isn't something to brag about and its not sport . Any one who doubts me can see on my website and socials who the the fool is here ( zero publicity is the norm ) but i wont be seeing it now because those that pick fights behind the mask of social media aint worth listening to

Finding deer that run of find cover are a PITA in the day let alone night and despite what so many say Thermals help they are not better than an experienced dog and never will be . I take you deer at longer ranges at night a tell tale BUT NOT ABOUT ME

It does happen in England (example below); while previously night licences were nigh on never issued this side of the border this has changed in the last few years. It's an effective way of reducing numbers where required and i'm not sure anyone is trying to assert it's sport. Not all deer management can be sport, due to how ineffective the traditional 'recreational' stalking is at managing overpopulation.

Walkers and other members of public tend to stay in bed in the small hours.

Sometimes it’s just plainly safer to manage deer at night than to do it during daylight hours..
There’s some more meat on the bones to it than what I’ve said but I’m not going to insilt
Anyone’s intellect.
 
Also interested in people’s opinions of this bullet. I’ve just started using them myself and so far only shot a few foxes and a muntjac. Factory 90 grain .243 so far very good indeed. I’ll post again when I’ve had a roe with them.

Oh i realise that it goes on both legally or/and Illegally in England , I also realise that pretty much everything that comes to be law gets tested by the authorities or perhaps a contractor . What i actually stated was in ENGLAND i do not know anyone who actually does it, so i sure have no real knowledge here in England of this practice and no interest in doing any in ENGLAND . A lot of the moves in Scotland regards thermals at night for deer had a fair amount of testing before it was opened up.
I do not shoot nearly as many deer( in England ) when i do go for deer here in England its always during daylight hours for sport most of the time . I really feel that many folks mix up culling and deerstalking as the same thing , that's kind of sad in my eyes .

Mine is 1 in 8 twist and 20" long so very similar 👍

I've ended up getting 163gr Gamechangers and also the 150gr ELDx to try. Just need to build a load and get to the range this weekend for the load development

What rifle are you shooting them in drew? And did you find them fairly accurate ?
