What do you do when you're not stalking

Planning the next adventure, and this years is going to be fun, a bear hunt, Tuna fishing, Buffalo (Bison) hunt

What happened there?? Hope you're right handed! Get well soon pal
Haha yes luckily I’m right handed. It’s never a good day when a mans tractor lets him down!!! My tractor was overheating and I ignored the warning on the coolant reservoir tank like I’ve done many times before, but the engine was super heated way beyond normal operating temperatures this time, basically high pressure pushed the coolant out all over my wrist and face. My face has about 40% burn coverage but luckily most of this is superficial, after a few appointments with the plastic surgeon I’ve been told I should get off with no major scarring on my face as for a small area around my ear and forearm I’ll probably have some scarring tissue. It has put my life into perspective a bit more tho and taught me some valuable lessons. We all spend our lives rushing from one job to the next as quickly as we can and if your like me sometimes we have a total disregard for our own health and safety. The country side can be a dangerous place, just the day before my burn injury I was chased full speed by a bull through a shed, I narrowly escaped by jumping over a gate and falling on the other side hurting my shoulder. We laughed it off but that could have been really life changing! I’ve learned the hard way last week that short cuts aren’t always faster or better. Weather your on an atv without a helmet or even not wearing your seatbelt slow down and consider the possibility of you not being able to appreciate your next stalking trip or whatever it is you love doing in your spare time.

Wow man that's intense. But thank you, you're right. So much of what you said rings true with me, in fact my merlo ligt has been beeping weeks now, I got chased by cow when tagging calf yesterday rather than taking time to put them through the crush & I got my nose bust last year when beast kicked back on loading gate as I was trying to push too many through at once. Oh an yeah, the quad bike helmet is gathering dust. You're spot on, especially when like me you've 3 young kids at home

Sage words 👍

Tell us a bit more then please?

Presume live trap with the cages ?

Job ?
Red squirrel project ?
The estate is taking part red squirrel project, we are funded to run the traps, covers my time/fuel and the peanuts.
Squirrels are caught in cages that have to be set at pre determined points, baited then run for a set time. I've to record everything I get including what sex.
I'm full time on deer so I try work it in with that job, get out early then onto squirrels through the day. Usually start properly when the night shooting licence ends.

Its all year round for me and never stops, slows down in summer of course but there are game cameras and lazy sit outs, something every day.
Then dogs and rabbits for a change of pace.

deer year.webp
