What happened

Much as I enjoy taking part in this forum, I have to say that sometimes it can make it difficult for things to move forwards as every Tom, Dick, Harry (and JC!) want to have their say. Somestimes its best to just run with an idea and let it naturally evolve, it won't suit everyone but thats life. If you try to make it perfect from the word go then it will never get off the ground.

I totally agree that you don't need foreign trainers. Any professional UK stalker who works a dog will have a very good level of relevant experience (not all will be able to pass that experience on as that is a skill in itself). Do you even need to run 'courses' straight away? how about a simple meet up day?

We lead the world in dog handling across the board in this country and i cant see why we treat tracking as some black magic, believe me it isn’t.

Paintandpins, How right you are. Training a dog to track is about as hard as training a dog to retrieve. A bit of time and Patience is all that is required. It ain't rocket science.
If i talk to someone who works a spaniel or retriever here in Sweden they think England is the Mecca for gundog training.
While Denmark , Germany , Sweden have been doing tracking for a long time tracking in England needs to be set up for the English model of hunting. I'm sure it will evolve it own ways that will be no worse than any of the continental ways of tracking over time
