What is your favourite quotation?

That was the motto of Australian Army Officer Training Unit OTU. Although I remember it as Non Bastardum Carborundum. Any Latin scholars care to help out here.

Was he the broken arrow officer? I had once worked with a Ron Washer who was in an A team there and fought his way into that melee to help out the Marines.

I don't think so. I think it was attributed to an officer called Bud Carpenter whose unit was surrounded as they were fighting their way back to the LZ to be heloed out. He did call in an air strike on his own position though as they were about to be overrun. Most of the guys did make it out once the dust had settled.

Another one - probably also 'fake' latin - "Sumus semper in excritae nil profundum variat"

Loosely translated (no doubt) as - we are always in the sh1 , only the depth varies

I have to go with one more, sorry.
In the film A Body of Lies, Russell Crowe says to Leonardo Di Caprio "In the words of the great Sam Snead, if you aren't thinking about pussy then you aren't concentrating"
An incorrect attribution according to Snopes but the sentiment appears sound to me.
I will forever pass it on.

" It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all"

“Churchill was in the lavatory in the House of Commons and his secretary knocked on the door and said: Excuse me Prime Minister, but the Lord Privy Seal wishes to speak to you. After a pause Churchill replied: Tell His Lordship: I'm sealed on The Privy and can only deal with one **** at a time”

from a picker up on a game shoot to a poor shot. "don't worry it will come down when it's hungry"
