What to put on threads?

I have 2 stainless tikka rifles both with stalon mods. I store them with mod off but notice a bit of rust on the threads after use which I assume is coming from inside the mod. What can I do to avoid this and is there anything I can do to clean or maintain the mods?

Look for
Silverline Pipe Cleaning Brush 19mm (what ever size your thread is)
get a couple
Not expensive.
I use white gun grease on the rifle thread.

I use white lithium grease in aerosol form from the makers of WD40, it’s ideal for the application and doesn’t make a mess if you get it on your clothes.

2/3 drops of PH .303 oil to run down the threads, wipe off excess with a patch and wipe muzzle crown with it.

Don't know what material the threaded part of Stalon mod is, but word of caution, I'd never put copper grease between steel and aluminium.
Really? Never knew that, What's the thought behind that? Thought it would be good for all sorts. I've a wildcat mod which as a steel thread.
I know dissimilar metals can react.

Part of the question was how to clean the threads which are on the inside of the Mod,

which I assume is coming from inside the mod. What can I do to avoid this and is there anything I can do to clean or maintain the mods

Applying oil/grease on the muzzle thread won't solve the problem as the problem will be with the thread or what is inside the mod as it is taken off.

I use waterproof marine grease (I use it in my fishing reels too) as it is water repellant and contains anti rust additives. I also use a little on a cloth to wipe down my blued rifle/shotgun barrels and actions - this leaves the metalwork looking dry but very water repellant; blood on my shotgun barrels doesn’t leave a blemish even if I forget to wipe them after a pigeon shoot and spot the dried on blood a week or so later.
Buy a little pot of waterproof fishing reel grease or a tube of marine grease and give it a go I think you’ll be surprised at the results.

Yes clever clogs, but even putting grease on the rifle thread will transfer to the mod threads and prevent rust from forming.
