I think that everyone cracking their hairy knuckles to limber up their sausage fingers in order to type, “ ‘Ow much djoo carry?”, should be required to start their post with their Body Mass Index: I might carry 5lbs more kit than you, but it’s less than the 20lbs of Trex hanging over your belt buckle…

Apart from the obvious (rifle, sticks, binoculars, thermal etc.)

Ogdens roe sack, containing:

Knife
Tripe knife
Stratton rib saw
Gambrel
Disposable gloves
Chainmail glove
Box forceps (used in tunnelling out)
Pre-cut 6” lengths of twine for tying off rectum
1-pint bottle of tap water for rinsing hands
Square of orange fabric on which to lay tools (cleanliness)
Drag harness
S-hooks for when use of gambrel inappropriate
Toilet kit (paper, disposable gloves) inside two ziplock bags
Small emergency rifle cleaning kit (Boresnake, patches, curtain wire “rod”)
Small microfibre len cloth
Spare battery for reticle
Small notebook
Carabiner on 20’ of (proper) paracord
Selfie stick (Yes, l have become That Man…)
First aid kit
Photocopies of permissions, maps & (redacted) FAC

All necessary; many used on every successful outing.

In addition to the obvious, I thought I’d include the things that I have recently discovered on my pockets that may or may not contribute to success and well being:

A third of a saussicon
2 empty cases (1x Creedmoor, 1x .22 ARC)
A strip of Velcro, with sticky back still intact
3 x cyclists reflector strips
Assorted lengths of paracord
2 left gloves
A windchecker puff bottle thingy
A can of Smidge
A snood
Half a roll of vet wrap
A folding pocket knife (wondered where that had got to)
Half a bag of peanuts.
A pine cone

and i don't need to walk far as with a creedmoor everything is in range !

My start up kit is:

Waist bag with torch, dental floss (tie gralloch, biodegrades) whistle, gloves, knife x2, ear pro, tourniquet, celox, sam splint and israeli bandage, bag for dirty gloves. May include a hand towel.

Rifle plus ammo plus slip with straps.

Binos +/- thermal.

But I'm also the guy who carries about a kilo of stuff in his pockets normally so the above may be overkill.

FEO interview yesterday so very hopeful, hear back next week if all goes to plan.

Rifle, scope, moderator, ammuntion, binoculars, quad sticks, knife, nitrile gloves and antibac wipes (no spaghnum moss here) for lowland stalking.
No quad sticks for upland stalking, but add bipod, sandwiches, a mars bar and water.

But like everyone else started with a roe sack with not much space for the actual roe if the weather was bad out on the hills just way to many bits
Now I’m older as little as possible to get through the job at hand

Rifle, scope, sticks, knife and binos.

Sub binos for thermal - we’re not getting any younger.

Add disposable gloves, a mobile phone, a length of para cord with a bit of inserted hosepipe for dragging and suspended gralloch, first aid kit and permission from the wife and your good up to fallow.

Don't forget the spade for burying gralloch at least a metre deep

I always bury it at least two meters deep in the hedge to be sure to be sure .
