Ratting in barns, no damage to corrugated and no ricochets, you may be onto something."Designed to splinter in a predictable fashion".
Joking apart, I don't see why it wouldn't work for some applications.
I think they would damage corrugated (it's denser than copper, remember) and ricochet like Hell at certain angles of impact, but at least they wouldn't contaminate the environment or poison anyoneRatting in barns, no damage to corrugated and no ricochets, you may be onto something.![]()
I guess I'll have to go with that ...as i would have a higher chance hitting the target if I misfired while doing galleryricochet like Hell at certain angles of impact,
Anschutz all the way then, if you can find a good secondhand 1710 with the heavy barrel grab it, they’re pretty rifles and stupid accurate.Ouch , I quite enjoyed plinking .22 without worrying my wallet crying... do we know If there's gonna a cheap alternative to lead at all ?
Mainly target shooting , maybe prs in the future...
Unless they discover a new element there won’t be ANY alternative to lead, cheap or expensive.
The whole point of a 22 is subsonics, I can’t see that hurdle being cleared.![]()

Better stock up then.....The whole point of a 22 is subsonics, I can’t see that hurdle being cleared.
They’ll be illegal to use so that’s sort of recommending breaching regulations.Better stock up then.....
Oh .. mayb I'll get a 455/457 and if lead ban happens then I'll just variant it to a 17hmr or somthing thenI'll be OK with hi-velocity for plinking, they probably won't actually go subsonic within the range I am shooting (up to 50m).
But if the .22LR market starts to fade away, there will be ripple-effect precautions for all .22LR shooters...
My CZ 457 can take a .17 barrel, so we'll see...
Only in the UK, pretty much everywhere else it’s HV for both small game and plinking. The whole point of a 22 is subsonics, I can’t see that hurdle being cleared.
If their sale is still allowed only for range use then you won't be able to buy expanding or fragmenting rounds. From New HSE consultation launched on lead ammunition
"Rifle ammunition for target shooting
Under the proposals, the use of lead ammunition could continue at approved ranges where mitigation measures for lead removal are in place, with a two-year grace period allowing alternative ranges to adapt. "
Hopefully, this means I can continue plinking... and it also means that the sale of lead ammo won't be banned, just its use.
So I should be fine.... as long as the NRA ranges in Bisley will have "mitigation measures for lead removal"![]()
Or just Polish up the sears a little, to vastly improve let-off. Did mine about thirty years ago, best improvement ever, took about an hour from disassembly to trying it out.Cz455 are decent, bit agricultural but does a stirling job.
Can always swap the trigger out if needed
