Whistling at deer

All good Fun yes they do stop at any sound unless they have aready seen you.
I shoot next to a gulf course and always shout FOUR But its not a golf ball i am sending.
regards brian

My experience is that almost anything works to stop a roe, almost nothing with red and fallow, nothing with boars. But you never know, I shot my best fallow after whistling. He spooked me and started trotting away, but stopped and looked back rigth after the whistle, and the rut was well over.

Hunting pressure, etc. also affects to the result.

Regards.

I roar at Reds and whislt like a Doe at Roe. I would fear that barking or roaring at a Roe would get them far to alarmed whereas the whistle seems to get there attention but not overly alarm them.
