Well there you go Apache,
patience is one of the best tools an engineer has. Easy to cut metal off, but a bu***er to put back. Your steady cut/check/cut some more is the way to go.

i would of thought it was better to take the minimum of metal off the barrel when threading especially with c/f rifles
