Who would you have drink with ?

I have no politicians whom I would like to have a drink with.
But there is one person I'd love to have a cup of tea with... Debbie Harry of Blondie fame, I think she's fab!

Had a drink after a rugby game in Dublin with Michael Martin [current PM] not so long ago. Good talker and listener.

He had been in restaurant we were in and joined us as we had finished up same time and was with his son, no visible security which isnt that surprising for Dublin.

Former PM Bertie Ahern was known for it too mixing with crowd before games etc.

As for others? AOC could serve the drinks / Sanna Marin / Meloni seems fun /

RIP Anne Widdecome who would also be interesting company. Very sad way for her to go.

Quick question out of all the politicians, who would you have a pint with ? And who would be the most believable after a drink or two ?
My grandfather. Who took this as a trophy as a soldier on the Western Front and who later, as a blind man, wounded in that same war made the bowl. Both items and the table lamp mentioned below are still in my family.

Him, here, the one I posted the picture of in his uniform. But who died in 1964 or so when I was still a mere infant.

Paddy Ashdown

I met (knew) the chap who Paddy took over from at Poole

But never Paddy himself
Lord no! Really? I met him once while waiting for the Eurostar. Full of himself he was from what I overheard. And speaking loud enough so all did overhear too. Maybe he had plenty to be full of himself about but for sure he was, when I encountered him that one time, full of himself. I met quite a few personalities there. Ann Widdecombe, Stephen Hawking, "Skin" from Skunk Anansie, Pete Doherty in his trademark hat, Gordon Brown, Richard Quest, Kenneth Clarke, Rabbi Lionel Blue who I had as a client for six days...an absolute pleasure and joy to have as such. Plus others. All were different. But none surpassed the then Lord Ashdown for being full of themselves.

That’s a shame

His predecessor was very different

A true gentleman

Ps on reflection he was Paddy’s successor

Age dims the memory 😳
