Why do the Pro Hunting organisations not post on here?

I think you have to ask why people even join these organisations, probably for the insurance they offer, and that’s about it.
I know people with BASC membership that don’t even read the magazine.
Unless things have changed from 11 yrs ago, most are run for the benefit of the few, I am not talking about any in particular but 3 come to mind, whose employees, seem to expect a free jolly out on the birds/ deer a day on the trout or a horse in the field, So they can write a nice article preaching to the converted .
They all are toothless, when it comes to protecting our sports and more than willing to throw the other one under the bus.

Well, I have read this post, and there is a lot of it. My views are my own, and what I think is right is right (to me), and my views are important to me. I agree with the initial post that shooting organisations are under represented on here. The only one that does post here has had a lot of flack, and I will admit, some of it from me.

Criticism may be hard to deal with, but it does not mean that the criticism is wrong. From our perspective, maybe we should tone down our thoughts a bit when an organisation has the courage to post here as they might not like what we have to say on this forum. However, maybe they should listen more.

Bashing is a two way street!

While it is true only 1 posts on here.
I dont imagine any off the others can afford to pay a wage to have an employee posting on forums.

Would u pay an extra 5 or 10 quid on subs so u can have someone posting online?
For a smaller org they simply dont have the staff.
And the staff they do have are better spending time actually dealing with legislation etc.

I dont know how many staff the CA has? As i imagine it will be the 2nd largest org.

I think that most shooting organisations are quite lazy. They all have a fun time at the various country shows, signing up members who get a few frebbies every year, whilst long-term members get no such dispensation.
That said and I am a member of four organisations, they do a good job overall.
It would be nice that there were more supporting the site. TSS is right using the term hunting. Most derive some of their income from our portion of fieldsports and we need to stand together with each other. The recent banning of course fishing on a lake should be a rallying call. After all, they want it all banned bit by bit.

We have a local 'legend' who purports to have a vast acreage and is an expert in all fields....... truth is that it's mostly all in his head but he blags and bluffs his way to minor stardom. Sadly the way of the world now w

Just to say i rhink rhe SGA do a remendous job ib scotland and punch well above their wieght.
But pretty sure the SGA in Scotland only has 1 or 2 office staff who will be busy enough just doing office/admin stuff.
The lads on the committees, putting press releases together, going to Holyrood, running courses and a multitude off other things on top of their FT jobs as keepers and stalkers.
Which are pretty full on jobs on their own.
Throw in family commitments, where would they get the time?

But posting on country sports forums is not promoting anything.
Its just preaching to the already coverted.
If anything they should be posting on non shooting/wildlife forums.

I dont do much social media but i do see a few names from from the SGA doing stuff in their own name not officailly online.

Most on here are already stalkers and shooters.
I would far rather they spend their valueable time dealing with Holyrood or Westminster than posting on a forum.
Like i said the SGA and id imagine NGO is similar althou larger, but a lot of 'staff' will still hold down FT keepering jobs. Used to pick up next to Lydseys estate and he was the main man for a long time.

If u want up todate info u can look on their websites.

Lets face it only about 4 or 5 orgs id considering joining ( and a few of them dont operate in Scotland so no good to ne), so not hard to do a tiny bit off research before u spend ur money.

While i have turned into a critic off 1 org i still strongly believe u should be a member off 1 of them.
If everyone just bought insureance of a commercial company we really would have no representation at all.
That peivate company wont really care jf shooting is stopped parts from a tiny drop in profits.
And to be honest we're struggling as it is.

This sporting rates change could very easily wipe out any rough shoot or diy synsicate in Scotland.
Cohld even stop lads shooting foxes
I know in my valley the 2 largest estates closed down all the small syndicates leaseng ground over the last few years.
Thats 10 diy syndicates closed, thats 160+ folk looking for cheap affordable shooting eslewhere, which will becone non existant.
At a time whem commercial charges are getting a lot more expensive.
