Don’t you know that deer also study DSC1 and read all the deer stalking books. They can also tell dates.
I was on the bonnet of the hilux. Local farmer was moaning a bit at all the deer (he doesn't get they group up this time of year). Anyway I said we would get on it (although usually give them a bit of a break in March) Out this morning with the dogs and this lot in plain sight of his house. Raced back to get rifle and drove up track and parked side on so could get out blind side. Blighters just drifted up the slope and stood on the skyline. There was a brief moment when I might have had a safe shot but I let it go.Get a taller high seat?

That`s where the 30-30 comes into it lol....apologies SmellyD.15 mins I watched them before they mooched over the hill

The smart ones seem to know what a horizon gives them
There is a farm about 500 yards the other side of that hill - not sure a Rem Mag landing on the roof would be appreciated.....That`s where the 30-30 comes into it lol....apologies SmellyD.
A quality atec maxim of course. The RM a bit shorty otherwiseWTF is that thing at the end of your barrel? No wonder they stayed far away!
Thats why I suggested the 30-30.There is a farm about 500 yards the other side of that hill - not sure a Rem Mag landing on the roof would be appreciated.....
used to have the same one on a sako, ATEC mods are very very good indeed,, if you are so inclined of course.A quality atec maxim of course. The RM a bit shorty otherwise

indeed. But as you can see with the big arable fields and dotted shaws sometimes a shot may be 300mGood job you had a rem mag for a big deer like that at 120m. Nice calibre choice![]()
No worries you crack on buddy. Personally I’ve yet to come across a uk deer that needs a magnum calibre at any range but each to his own enjoyI

It’s also a belter in the hill or in Sutherland on Sika in the forest rides

I guess I dial at 300m so wether the drop is -6” (rem mag) or 12” (my rifle) it makes no difference and the wind is the bigger factor. But like I say shoot whatever takes your fancy.Less about performance and more about trajectory
Woodland and elsewhere my favourite is the .275 with big and slow bullets

Round here they also know which fields are outside my permission.Don’t you know that deer also study DSC1 and read all the deer stalking books. They can also tell dates.
Nothing like knowing your enemy well.
