Why do women do this?

Yes Ken, Marlene is in Fairfield. Today she seems to have picked up some sort of stomach upset/infection and can't keep any food inside her. They said that she needed to see a doctor but 4 hours later she is still waiting to see a doctor. You would thing they could find a doctor to see her in a hospital.
I will be visiting again at 6:30 this evening so hopefully they will have found a doctor to see her and get things sorted!
 
We dont realise how fragile life is. We just expect to live healthy till in our 80’s or 90’s before we die and sadly thats not always the case. I know you have been through the mill but your wife is still with you and hopefully for an extended future. You must appreciate what you have now. You could have lost her at any time but now you have hope for the future. life is a day by day experience and the future uncertain. My wife has had Dementia for 6 years and cannot put a sentence together. She thinks I am her dad and I have to do everything and I mean everything. At 76 I could have lost her 6 years ago when she had a chest infection and Sepsis but she is now physically fit and does not ail physically. Every day is a bonus and as I promised Love and honour in sickness and in health till death do us part.

Thank you Beagler my friend. Yes I do treasure life, especially as I have had 2 heart attacks and this one is the wife's third. Life and my wife are both very precious to me!
I wish you and your wife well and hope that the God that I believe in will keep to both of you as well as can be! :tiphat:

I wish I knew what the hospital are playing at! When the consultant phoned me last Tuesday morning to confirm that Marlene had had another heart attack he said they would be taking her to theatre on Thursday for an angiogram and whatever treatment she needed. They then on Thursday knocked it back to today (Tuesday, a full week after her admission) to do the angiogram etc. Marlene has just phoned me 10 minutes ago and told me that they have knocked it back yet again and will not be doing the angiogram etc until at least tomorrow. I honestly do believe that the hospital staff (The doctors and nurses etc) are very good at their jobs and I have the highest respect for them but with all this I am starting to question the justification in the high pay rises that the junior doctors etc are asking for, don't they realize that their actions (Or lack of avtion) can be starting to contribute towards the general public loosing faith in them?
This isn't meant to be a NHS bashing post and I honestly do not want it to turn into one but right now I am just feeling frustrated with the situation and at the end of my tether! I just want to see Marlene sorted and not worrying about what is going on while she is stuck in limbo in the hospital!

If she's in hospital, stable, and being monitored, then that probably she's no longer in imminent danger, so in other words not an emergency case. Other patients - who may be in very real danger of imminent death - may have to take priority at times.
Just be content for now that they clearly don't believe she's high risk right now, which should be a comforting thought (although I appreciate your frustration).

I really do understand what you are saying but it is all getting so frustrating for me and even more so for Marlene!
Like I said my post isn't meant to be any sort of an NHS bashing thread and I certainly don't want it to turn into that so please let's not have anyone going down that road, life has enough worries without that! :tiphat:
 
A quick update - At last she has had an angiogram done yesterday afternoon, after it being put off twice. The results are "suggesting" that she needs a bi-pass operation. The consultant isn't on duty at that hospital this morning so we need to wait till he is so that we can find out exactly what the situation is and when and where the bi-pass might be done if that is what is needed.
 
UPDATE - The consultant has been round later today and the decision is that Marlene has to have a triple bi-pass operation. They say that she has to stay in hospital till they get a slot either at Withenshaw or Manchester hospital which might take up to a month. The other alternative is to have her transferred to Stoke On Trent Hospital where they can get a slot for next week. Marlene has decided that the latter option is the best if she is strong enough to have the op as she is loosing weight very rapidly. We hope know for certain tomorrow!

Stoke-on-Trent Hospital is meant to be a pretty good place too.

I don't know if this is going to work by copying and pasting the link but let's give it a try. Last Friday Marlene told me to have a break from constantly having to drive back and forth to the hospital to visit her and to go to the Burnley Folk and Acoustic Club that I usually got to on Friday nights to spent time with friends. There is more right with the NHS than wrong with it, she will be in good caring hands.
