Why is it necessary to logon to SD now?

I’ve noticed over the last few days that the range of site options for ‘guests’ seems to have shrunk. ‘Todays Posts’ no longer appears under ‘Quick Links’. I can’t view a members ‘Previous Posts’ either.

The only way to browse as a guest is to select ‘Forum’ and page down to whatever sub-forums interest me. My moan is that I’m missing content & context having to do things this way. ‘What’s New’ is laborious and slow so doesn’t fit the bill.

I don’t think it’s my cookie or Adblocker settings, These have been frigged back & forth & things are still the same. Is this a vBulletin update, or are some of the previous features limited to forum members only now?

Pretty sure guests have always been limited to certain things.
What I don't get is why logging in is such a problem for anyone.

Neil.

if your browser clears history when you close it - it will forget your sign in details and you have to logon again

I limited guests from using the search while the site runs with patchy slowness. Once we get that sorted I can get it put back the way it was.

Hi,

I leave my SD page permanently open in my browser and me permanently logged in. When I reopen my Browser after having closed it my SD tab is still there with me still logged in. No problem. You might want to check your browser settings.

Thankyou for reading my post & answering the query I raised.
I thought this was connected with the site response, but no-one else seemed to have spotted it.
My point was that until this week it hasn't been necessary to log on to casually watch the traffic. Nor should it be.... this isn't Facebook or internet banking, thank God.
When logged on to any site everything you do is tracked by default. I object to that no matter what the site is, so only log in to SD when it's necessary to post.
I look forward to the resumption of normal service soon, as it only took me a few minutes to sort through the daily input before.:tiphat:
