Will it work? 410 replacing lead with bismuth

I bought and have put to one side until the day comes a MEC 600 in .410 and a MEC Supersizer in .410. I have a Webley .410 bolt action so thoroughly intend to keep shooting it after the day of doom with legal handloads of bismuth but also intend to try it out with tin shot. Which is also legal and was at onr time loaded by Hull Cartridge company in 12 bore.

Tin shot was about English #3 size but I think that a fifteen to twent yards these will pattern and kill well enough. But until the day of doom I won't be doing any loading. However the OP is welcome (at his own risk) to come up to Leicestershire and load up a few on my press with his own cases, primers, powder and shot.

I think that going forward if the .410" 2 1/2" cartridge is used at fifteen to twenty yards then it may have a future with non-lead shot that is other than bismuth be that other be tin or something else.

Just prey by the time the day of doom arrives you can find bismuth and tin shot to buy at a price that is tenable as at this time it looks at best challenging, then tungsten based shot is now very expensive.

Then .410 loading on an MEC can give mixed results , i found it best to use new primed cases and roll turnover, so no MEC required, just pleased my son has longtime outgrown a .410 and I much prefer the 28ga.

Sadly as it is today steel shoot is the only affordable alternative, fingers crossed for a better situation come the day of doom.

I was disappointed with the MEC for 410.

Stop the world, I wanna get off....
