PM - that looks a nice little shotgun - please tell us more.
It is a sixteen bore hammergun made in St Etienne by J. P. Chanu. It's nitro-proved so I think it's a late hammergun, it doesn't have any poncy stuff like rebounding locks or a safety catch or ejectors. I bought it for £275 at the CLA Game Fair over a decade ago where it was labelled "French hammergun" and much cheaper than the English one next to it that had pitted barrels. It handles beautifully, I can shoot fine with it, and I think that if I did some work on the stock, that would come up very nicely too. One of the springs on the striker is broken so that it doesn't protrude when the gun isn't loaded but this makes no difference to its function.
