Hog skull and tusk care

I had warthog boar skull and tusks mounted on a shield from a very memorable stalk back in South Africa. It is the only trophy I have ever kept so I am not well versed in the long term care of the bone and ivory. The pig was very old when I shot him, and the tusks are now showing signs of drying out and splitting. Is there anything I can apply to prevent this from worsening? IMG_0907.webp

The Germans on boar use a 2 part epoxy mix that they fill the hollow tusks with, outside perhaps an old toothbrush treatment?

And anything on the outside?
Nope. All I ever do with pig tusks is fill them with melted candle wax.

If they are already splitting, perhaps consider a two part clear epoxy and glue them back together - wrap rubber bands or something around the tusk to hold them back together and allow the epoxy to set.
