Worth a measure???

Boiled about 24 hours ago so still wet but not soaking wet…..
Weighs 498g cut (so won’t have the usual 90g deducted for full skull?)

What do you think?

Ps, I know I shouldn’t have cut it really if I was going to get measured but didn’t really think it was that big until I’d boiled it out 🙊

I always do the full skull when putting them in but you’ve cut off 25g worth (according to CIC). So would be 523g and 24hr can take a fair bit of weight out depending on where it was kept.

It only needs to be around the 455g mark (or 430g if cut like yours) and you have a chance. Check it after the 30 days but I should think it will be about there for bronze.

Estimating around 101- 103, not sure it will make bronze; -assuming it loses around 50g for long nose cut, and around 8-10% of weight for drying in the interim, which they usually do; point scores for symmetry and tine ends may not be that great. Volume may be average, but would have been greater were the front tines longer.

(The Grumpy Jock is just being a realist, rather than a deluded optimist!)

Nice old return buck, all the same.

Fine old beast but could come up just short although you never know with volume.
At that weight decent scores in all areas would be ideal to try and boost the score but but it won't get them.

Just weighed the skull again.
It’s sitting at 474g and seems fairly stable at that weight.
30 days drying is 15th December so might try and get it weighed soon after that…….
