Yew Tree Options

Looking at Yew Tree bullets for 6.5 Cr and the options available, i.e. standard hunter 112g, TLR 114g and the Super X 102.4g

Difference between Standard and TLR looks fairly obvious but as it looks fairly new, how does the Super X vary or is it a lighter (possibly shorter) version of the TLR?

Is the lighter Super X more frangible, possibly more suited to the smaller deer, Muntjac, CWD, Roe?

Appreciate if anyone can advise before I order some. I did decide some time ago to go with Yew Tree as my alternative Non-lead with all reports seemingly putting them ahead of all other options available.

I’m using the 112 in 6.5 creed will excellent results Getting low on them now and was thinking of the 102 nice to know the response

I’m in exactly the same place as you, put about 80 rounds of factory through my new 6.5 cm. Time to start reloading for it now. I also shoot mostly roe and muntjac, hoping to find a non toxic round that’s not to destructive on the smaller species

I have shot 90 deer now with the 112 grn spike red and roe never had one problem most have not moved on the spot farthest has gone 50 yds so very happy worked our a load 2850fps sub 1/2 group was thinking of trying the 102grn but very happy with the ones I am using just fancy the 102

I used the TLR in my swede and found them fantastic. Absolutely spot on every time no runners and only a bit of meat damage on smaller but I was pushing them fairly quick.

I’ve tried all 3 in my CM

The hunters, worked very well, flattened everything I sent them at, but I fancied a change so tried the tlr.
Accuracy was superb, possibly just had the edge on the hunters, and I was pushing some ranges with them, and they worked very well but I would have liked a bit more expansion on the bigger species at range.
So Richard suggested try the superX which I duly ordered.

Wow, I was stunned how well they grouped, how very easy it was to find a load to suit them, and how consistent they were

I’ve probably shot 60-70 deer with them now, I’ve yet to have a runner to speak of, they are not smashing the smaller species up, but a good blood trail if you was needing to do a follow up.

I believe the Super X was designed to provide better expansion from more modest velocities. As for ease of load development, I can vouch for the TLRs in 270 and 6.5, done and dusted in one sitting.

The TLR in both 6.5 and 260 are very accurate and do the business after 200 + fallow, but will try the Super X to see how they perform

Still a cheap deer though isn’t it, and to be fair, I would rather support a small uk company like yew tree than some big American/european manufacturer whose supply is inconsistent
