Your Avatar or Handle

In the few years that I have been on this one thing that has intrigued me is the choices of Avatar and Handle names we have all made. From skeletons hammering keyboards to tramps and Red Dot sights (RIP) and famous authors (Frank) and British mammals (Pine), and a particularly lucky dog sliding up some girls skirt etc etc.
I have a personal pique on the green hornet KenchB -- quite a few anagrams you can make from that!
What has influenced your choice of either?

Not chosen by me bogtrotting is a name given to a gait somewhere between a walk and a trot used to cross boggy ground, some friends started to refer to me as the bogtotter due to the type of ground I was working on, and it stuck.

Basil was a dog I owned years ago.
My avatar is self explanatory.
My daughters started calling him Basil tarquin in fun but that later went on to form part of my email address.

East monar estate where I spent 2 seasons working will always be a memorable place for me...... so I thought it fitting to have my 'handle' incorporate it.

Mine is self explanatory Gryphon is my surname but i`m just spelling in a different way.

The Aus map/roo combo are just that, Aussie!

My most favourite fish to catch, that has ruined my fly fishing for anything else. Nothing deep and meaningful, I'm afraid. I might get a new one, just to be different. How about Ragnar Lothbrok - he was a dude.:D

Nugs has been my nickname throughout my career in the Fire service. Shortened from Nugget, due to my mop of blonde hair.

The Wapinschaw is a term from the Old Scots language which can be interpreted as "Weapons showing". It originated in the Middle Ages when there was no established army in Scotland, and all able-bodied men were required to own weapons, armour etc and turn out when required for the defence of the Realm. Wapinschaws were gatherings held to inspect the men and equipment and to conduct training.

Modern Wapinschaws evolved into skill at arms competitions and have been held for nearly 140 years in the Aberdeen area as rifle marksmanship events. They are now run by Aberdeen Full Bore Gun Club, I have been competing with variable degrees of success for a good few years and adopted my screen name from the event.

Stag1933 (sadly no longer on here due to ill health and decrepitude) said l'd got ratty whiskers, hence Ratwhiskers...
My Avitar is due to Mike Norris saying l'd get what was coming to me if l kept going long enough...

Bowji john - my name is john, I live on a farm, the name of which starts with Bowjy.....

Also I believe a 'bowji' is a Cornish word for cow shed or 'shelter'

Shelter is one of the corner stones of bush/field craft

Named for the first new motorcycle I bought in modern times (2003)
I needed an anonymous forum name and that came to mind, as for the avatar
I rescued it from a drowning while fishing, and took the pic as it sat in the sun drying
off, at that time thought it was a big wasp or Hornet, I have since been informed it is
actually a moth, but I like it so it stayed.

Neil.

Kes - a book and film which struck a chord - by Ken Loach. I could have chosen something entirely different and possibilities for a new name are endless. My favourite alter ego of the moment is Herodotus -If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it.. I tend to be too serious so I should have listened to this a while ago !
