Went expensive this time, £45 on special seems a bit toppy but that’s only a fiver a year I suppose.

I had a collection like that of military boots and hunting boots. Finally I got over my nostalgia and started thinning the herd.

I’m down to maybe 5 pair now.

Rather than throw old boots in the skip bolt them, toe facing down, to a tree or somewhere that birds can get to them and may use them for nesting. The same goes for old tea pots, leave off the lid and screw them spout facing down, both make good nesting 'boxes' for wild birds. Oh ! don't forget to do the laces up on the old boots when erecting them.
