Resoleing boots is it worth it?

One year post resole, still looking good after some fairly hard wear:

I get the Evo Stik out to be honest and when that fails its the bin. Even good boots compared to the labour and postage on a repair are near enough the same price and, for such as "veldtschoen" or type soles there seem few that know the proper way.

I have just a really nice pair of Chelsea boots resoled. I am just about to send of my Lowa Tibets to Lancashire Boot Repairs. My Tibets are 8 years old, soles are like skis and midsole has perished. They are effectively buggered. Cost to resole and repair heal lining will be £130. But new these boots are £300 plus. By my reckoning renewing soles on good boots and shoes is well worth it.

My local cobbler, who I use for any minor footwear fixes, has a little motto printed on the cloakroom ticket that he gives you when you drop a pair of shoes off with him:

"If they're worth wearing they're worth repairing".

The reference to the sole blowing up was unlikely to have been exaggerated if my experience is anything to go by. The material simply disintegrated and was not recoverable with glue of any strength or viscosity.
