Yule Sack Leakage?

I used a Yule Sack for the first time this week, I was impressed by the general principle BUT the blood from the carcass leaked through the lining.
I can't say I was impressed by the consequences and cleaning.
My question is, for any Yule Sack users, is it normal for the lining to be porous? (how could the manufacturer think that was a sensible decision?)
I'm thinking of making an additional liner unless someone has a better solution.

I have used a Yule sack for quite a few extractions before upgrading to the Monarch Roe sack, which is world's apart in quality and design in my humble opinion.

Saying that, I never had any issues with leakage from the yule sack if "trussed" up sufficiently.

Is yours the PU Coated nylon material like a school bag? I know a few people that had made them from a thicker canvas similar to a game bag.
Ensure all blood is out of the carcass and loaded feet up into the sack

For Roe or Muntjac, pop them in a bin liner once gralloched, then pop in Roe sack/bergen etc. Keeps it pretty tidy and they're only in there for the 20-40min of extraction.

I use a Yule sack occasionally in one steep location. I generally put the roe carcass in an IKEA bag first. All innards have been removed, as well as head and legs. Then put the IKEA bag in the sack. I still have to rinse the Yule sack when I'm done.

Thanks gents.
The inner looks like it's water proofed but it isn't as the image of the outer material shows the leakage.
For reference it was only a muntjac bled, gralloched, lower legs and head removed.
Have to say I'm somewhat disappointed, guess I'll be carrying a bin liner as well.

Bin liner is a game changer - when you get it back home, you can hang the beast over the bin bag (rather than a drip tray), then use the same bin bag during the skinning and major butchery part. All the waste can go directly in the bin bag, no tray to clean, no extra bags or anything else needed.

Looks like a poor canvass used.

We make a similar sack which uses 600denier coated fabric and these don’t leak like that. I fact quite opposite as the blood holds in the sack but this is easily washed off with a hose pipe.
Most ones from china use 400 denier which is lighter and might be the reason looks like you have a bad one.
If it’s the first use I would contact the seller as they shouldn’t leak like that.

Yes - my 4 year old one leaked a bit and I assumed it was due to washing/ wear.
I bought a new one - leaks a bit

As above, if you must, buy an IKEA bag.
But unless you are wearing your Sunday best why worry about a bit of blood.
I have one of @big ears sacks that our excellent
I have carried out more than it was designed for, the last time was a field butcher of a red calf, coped with it easily and not that I was bothered, no blood came through

I used an Ogden Yool sack for a while ( not Yule, it’s named after its inventor, Andrew Yool). I’m just about to start using it again, if I can work out how to fix it to my belt kit. Don’t remember it ever leaking and the one I have does appear to have a waterproof layer applied to the canvas. It’s a really old one so may be they have changed their canvas. I’ve ordered some clear plastic bags as this appears to be a simple solution.

Not sure what size Odgens sack you have but I can just about get mine in the back poachers pocket of my Deerhunter jacket if I fold it well.

I’ve got an old country covers (fortis) sniper smock that has a large rear pocket, but it looks like a baboons bum if I put it in there! Trying to marry an SA80 cleaning kit roll to a belt (currently it doesn’t have loops) but I am waiting to catch SWMBO in a positive move before I ask her to get the sowing machine out…could be a while.
It also fits in my swedteam bum bag, but there are no fittings on the belt for my knife, IFAK or Garmin …one day I’ll have the perfect set up!

Hi, have you got any more information on these please? Pics would also be great as well as a price?

Many thanks!
