Zeiss duralyt compared to Swarovski

Quick question - Would the Duralyt 3-12x50 NON illuminated be useless in low light? The reticle looks so fine but never looked through it myself.

I've got a Duralyt on my .308 but before that it saw service on my .222 which is a long range rabbit and fox rifle. I never had the slightest problem with the unilliumunated reticle and never lost a shot because of it. I now have on the triple a Nightforce with an NP-2DD reticle. That is awkward in low light because it has no stadia or continual crosshairs, just a central dot with a short horizon line and a very small vertical line at 6 o' clock. Its a target reticle really. Its fine under the lamp but in poor light against small targets like rabbits at long range I find I lose the dot. Once the light starts to go I really need to turn on the IR (on the lowest setting), though that would be better still if only the central dot was illuminated.
For future reference I would avoid central dot reticles unless they are illuminated but use non-illuminated unbroken plex reticles with confidence.
