Roe Rut 2015!

Still on in Perth , called a nice buck in last night after watching a much lesser buck chase a doe round a cut barley field for about an hour
Started here 23 rd. or 24th. On my ground which is in and around perthshire still bucks chasing does hard here
Started on my ground on the 24th but fluctuating temperatures have meant that it has been a stop start affair.
Both the unseasonably low temperatures and an ascending moon have produced little rutting activity here, there is still time for a sudden rise in temperature to set it off again, but looking at the forecast that seems unlikely to happen.

I was out Saturday night with a mate. Shot this big boy, easy score Medal I would say. Watched him mount Doe three times prior. Plenty signs around In my neck of the Borders to say rut in full swing.

Compared it roughly to other medal heads I have Novice, it will have the weight no probs. Yes mate getting it mounted which is nice.

Gloucestershire, nr. Chipping Campden, 3rd. August 2015 PM: Me and my stalking partner, after a few failed calling attempts in known good spots we split up to increase our changes. Spotted one Roe but 500 Yards+, too far away to sex it; one Muntjac but again not sexed, too far away 300 Yards+ for a confident shot as it kept moving. This Muntjac I followed with the Thermal and it actually came within 5 Yards from my stalking partner who at this point had taken a position where I could just about still hear him calling. So it was likely to be a Muntjac buck. Apart from two foxes showing some interest in the call, no further sightings or any signs of any rutting whatsoever.

Gloucestershire, Cheltenham side. Looking for pigeons and for 10 minutes watched a good buck chasing a or in and around a hedge.
Friday night calling in foxes only to watch two buck trotting in. Soon ran to fox number 4 dropping only to come running back once calling stated gain. 6 fox down without leaving the field. Saves on shoe ware.

Plenty signs of recent activity here in Fife yesterday in the form of fresh Roe rings, but changeable weather conditions not helping.
Didn't see any bucks but spied a good number of females and this years kids looked in pretty good fettle considering all the rain and low temperatures July gave us.
Nice spell this morning but temperature dropping away now and drizzle,
Needing a bit more warmth to encourage more movement here.

saw a yearling doe feeding at around 19:00, she then headed back in the woods, nothing else showing within 2 miles radius after 19:00, absolutely nada..usually should be 10-16 deer to be seen on that forest line...very odd, I'm actually starting to find that the only bucks about and most likely only time they are rutting around here, is mid to late afternoon, then they head in early evening for a long snooze as the evenings are so bloody cold now. This summer I am not seeing the traditional late evening deer coming out of the woods and hedgerows to feed in the open,,on the contrary.
It appears that the rut has started in almost all areas. When will it finish? I only acquired a new permission earlier this week and went there with a rifle last night for the first time. I've walked the area plenty over the last few weeks and came across a very well defined roe ring almost two weeks ago - does the presence of a roe ring two weeks ago suggest that the rut will be over by now?
Whether the rut is over or not I'm just happy to have the new permission. It took a long time for the ground to be passed by PoliceScotland, who are worked off their feet because the civilian FEO's are not employed any more.

Rut is on Nr Straiton D&G - nothing coming to calls but deer grassed yesterday/today - trail cams also picked up activity last weekend, also Roe Rings clearly visible from earlier in the week.
