I can't believe nobody has even noticed the last one I posted on my list! Maybe, like me, they've never actually watched it?;)

I have watched it. Good film. Well acted. Thoughtful, difficult, subject for the characters...and many viewers!

I preferred Shipping News which is also based on an Annie Proulx story.

Some great films mentioned - good to see a couple of votes for Leon - doesn't come round on the telly very often...

I would add Sexy Beast with Ray Whinstone & Ben Kingsley's nutcase part is legendary!

I agree on both counts. I could not remember the other Reno film I liked after Ronin. Sir Ben is really scary as a bad guy. Very intense.

Tom Horn - Steve McQueen, based on Horn's autobiography, written from his gallows cell
The Train - with Burt Lancaster
The Great Escape - Steve McQueen
A Bridge Too Far - super cast. My father-in-law was there, too.
Seabiscuit ( hey, I like fast horses and true stories )
To Kill a Mockingbird
Treasure Island - Wallace Beery. What boy my age didn't read RL Stevenson and Walter Scott?
Kidnapped - another Stevenson story, based on a true story
Tarzan the Ape Man - 1932 ( anything copied this much has to be good )
Captain Blood - Erroll Flynn ( likewise on copycats )
Henry V - Kenneth Branagh version in 1989, and the Lawrence Olivier version
Last of the Mohicans - filmed where I hunt
The Patriot - a bit corny, but filmed where my ancestors lived and fought, so exciting to see places and houses I know.
Ben Hur
It Happened One Night
Gone With the Wind
- very real to someone my age growing up in The Deep South
Deliverance - was fishing and hunting the area where it was filmed, from before, and since. I posted some helmet cam video of shooting the Chattooga River, about 2 years ago.
