What do you carry in your stalking bag?

Gun, Sticks. Phone on silent, 4-5 rounds, small length of soft rope.

From my point of view it is all relative to your ground...

Unless you turn up on the number 19 bus then the rest of the stuff will be in the truck........

However reading some replies you would think they are off to take back Port Stanley...

I am a port Stanly type

I can just pick up my bag and go and I know I have all the kit I need to drag, gralock and unblock.

Full first aid kit in the car a few plasters and bandages in my Jacket + a whistle

But it just sits in the car on short range. I only carry it when I have 30mins+ walk back to the car. For the sake of carrying this 5kg kit id rather do that walk once and draging a carcus :D

Obviously - gun, ammo, binos, sticks, knife.

Sometimes: thermos (morning), hip flask (evening), and if I am selectively after roe bucks and I need to see their antlers and am on open ground, a spotting scope. Weather dependant maybe some light insulation or rain gear...

I am at the stage where if I can't carry it in my pockets it doesn't go, I used to carry a roe sack with everything including the kitchen sink.

I now now have a Yool style roe sack, which I roll up and wear like a belt, I wear a swanndri smock where I carry spare rounds, small thermos and disposable gloves and a hand full of plasters.

Then rifle , AKA swing blade , binoculars and sticks and that's me, and a couple of Mars bars I am on a proper hike.

you do not need all the clobber you think you do.

I carry a waist bag, with knife, drag rope, head torch and a little roll of plaster incase my fingers move slower than my knife, then in summer after roebucks carry a little bottle of water to wash hands after gralloch (hate wearing rubber gloves)
then I have my rangefinder on one side and bullet pouch on other side. This is just for morn/evening stalks

Rifle , Binos , sticks ,stalking clothing , head torch , phone , knife and a stainless drag hook

Everything else stays in the truck , drag carcass back to truck for grolloch / larder prep and then into tray

I don't need a full of everything Bergon with 5 day ration pack just in case

I don't stalk far from the vehicle or civilisation so I'm happy with what I carry

Everything used to go in the smock, except for when I need to take a drag sheet as well.

Spare rounds
Knife
Small folding spare knife
Torch
Phone
latex gloves
Hand sanitiser
Plastic food bags
Pulley and rope
Folding gambrel
Yool sack - in a belt bag.
Drag sheet - in belt bag.
Arthus tracking harness and tracking lead
Water proof liner for smock.
FAC, permissions with maps.
Lens cleaning cloth.

Face veil gloves and hat get stored in the smock but usually are being worn.

Plus binos, rifle and sticks...
And yes, it weighs to much!!!

Agree, you just don't need a bag full of gear. Rifle on shoulder with full mag, bins round neck, knife in pocket, sticks in hand, clothing suitable for weather, let's go. Everyone has phone on them, and most of us aren't in the wilds of Alaska so the car won't be far away will it!

My first time on the hill I took a big daysack, the stalker just gave a wry smile....never again, next day the bag stayed behind, just my 'piece' in coat pocket rifle, knife, bins.

I have a sweedteam waistbag its ideal for me , I carry bullets drag rope knife gambrel gloves hand sanitiser basic first aid and most importantly bog roll, I find I used to leave stuff behind but now I just grab the bag sticks and gun and off I go.

roe sack , 3 knifes, baby wipes ,rubber gloves ,small waste bags torch if evening stalk .ammo goes in my pockets binos round my neck

rifle binos knife gloves sticks,,,plus big bags of enthusiasm and a load of optimism,,,,,,,,,everything else stays in car,

ONe of the best things i started to use this year was a small light rucksack the kids used to use in school. Dark plain colour. Padded shoulder straps. I can synch the bag tight or leave it loose depending on needs.
Torches. Knife. Chest drag harness. Gloves leather and dispoable ones for grallock. Small foldable saw to clear vegetation. Water and snack. Warm hat if weather changes or take a layer off and bag it if im too warm.
I bag some of the organs i want after the grallock.

Spare bullets, wee rope, wee bottle of juice, choccy bar, knife on my belt

Anything else I leave with the Quad, to hell with carrying too much, I'd be planning walking several miles!

We have a saying at work, "the amount of tackle carried on a belt is inversely proportional to the amount of experience" which is obviously transferable to stalking. So now going to throw the kitchen sink out of my bag Tom

Its also directly proportional to the distance back to the truck ;-)

All you need is rifle, ammo, bins ,phone, sticks and knife ...............no point in carrying un-necessary gear about.

dont carry a bag . bi pod in one pocket ,2 knifes ,decathlon game bag in back game pocket ,disposable gloves 3 pairs, five rounds of 308 .binos, rifle and trigger sticks. dog whistle fox squeaker around neck. and mobile phone on silent.

each to their own but for me I like having everything I might need in a small light rucksack. Pick it up and know I haven't left anything behind.

Might drive an hour or two to the starting point and phone signal is a rarity.

That's the line of thinking I was working on!
As you say "Each to their own"!
