European firearms legislation and CA 'call to action'

A simple look at the BASC home page any time since the end of November would have brought you or anyone up to speed with what was happening from BASC' point of view, so rather than assume BASC has done nothing, a couple of clicks of the mouse would have perhaps put you into a better informed position - that's my point

I am pleased that the main shooting organisations have come together under FACE to promote this important project and the more promotion and support it can get the better

What bugs me about these online campaigns is that they invariably ask you to enter name and address details online over an insecure link (i.e. web address with no padlock in the address bar). Given that we are FAC holders responding to a firearms related consultation/petition, this represents a potential security issue.

Nevertheless, I have responded...

Well they're no different from old fashioned paper petitions. In the end, you're lobbying your MEP or MP as a constituent so there's a form of qualified participation. By the way, my MP never responds to any communications. My MEP does though. Just saying. But I'm probably on the list of annoying people who aren't going to vote for her anyway... That said, I didn't vote for my MEP either.

Seems like the huge majority (130,000) of the members of BASC dont read the BASC Home Page, and with a greater reason to than me, who isnt a member.
Maybe a bit more energetic advertising by BASC and a little less sniping at people who do something, would help the shooting cause, if not the membership numbers game ?
Complacency is never laudable.

I agree, less sniping or making unfounded accusations of lack of action without checking first would be good thing. It would also help if shooters kept an eye on the organisations web sites as often key issues are posted there first before other methods of communications such as email newsletters, twitter, Facebook, articles in association magazines ect - all of which BASC have done in the past few months by the way

As for advertising, well apart from all of the above, good old word of mouth is very effective, so thank you to all of you who have helped spread the message

Amen to that - whoever's message it was.

Perhaps you're right. i was thinking more in terms of the address details being intercepted by a third party. After all the general Internet advice is to never enter your details on an unsecured page, so there must be a reason for that...
