Well I just watched that video and am less than impressed. What I saw looked to me as a very cheap way to make a barrel fit and that spacing sleeve is not exactly secure now is it. I can see why they like the ideal nice and cheap to produce but no thanks give me a traditional way of barrel fiting to a nice solid fixed shoulder any day of the week.

I now feel I can comment from actual experience of the product,, I originally sent James my old shot out .270, firstly as a "Hospital" job, something he could feel free to tinker with if he had quieter periods, I had a stopgap 25.06 that was more than adequate for the Roe present on the ground, time did not enter into the equation, ..... I drove the 180 miles into Jame's territory on Saturday morning, collecting from James in person, good to put a face to the voice on the phone (communication had been faultless throughout), I had been sent an e mail attachment showing a three round card @ 85 yards, factory Norma I think, all holes were interlocked so looked promising, the sooty black Cerakoating on the LW stainless barrel looked very good too.
First thing on arrival back home was to thoroughly clean through, after the first pass of patch I immediately noticed the difference in lack of resistance pushing through, I realised that I had a properly finished tube here, very different to other work I have been in receipt of, satisfied that I was going to be starting with a clean barrel at Altcar the following day, I looked out some old loads from stock, 130 grain Partitions over H4831, very accurate in the old barrel before I fried it in Germany.
Cutting to the chase, 'I' range @ 200 yards, butts party belonging to Warrington club, reporting a half inch 5 round group, piercing the spotting disc, not shabby using a Schmidt 8x56 reticle.
Only downside was, it did not like my choice of moderator for the day, but that should change when I get a Hausken for it..
You shot a 1/2" 5 shot group at 200y with an 8x56 scope and no load development? Thats very good going.
Interestingly, the barrels on Bergara rifles are not secured this way they use the traditional threaded method

That is actually a very good comparison!
Both vehicles will get you to exactly the same destination with exactly the same accuracy. It's just that one will cost you considerably more.
However, with the rifles you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference other than some fancy engraving which will undoubtedly be included in the price.
I'd quite happily put my .280AI 'Metro' against any 'Rolls' on the range.

Bold statement, or are you another brainwashee who's swallowed all the rubbish talked about rifles and how they go together. It's either put together right or wrong and it doesn't matter who did it. I have a 300 win mag built by James Clark and it is the most accurate rifle I've owned.
His work is top notch yet he is continually battered by saddo members on here who haven't even had work done by him.
So far I have never seen one of these Bergara rifles mind you it is not like I have been out looking. Not even window shopping not until we get moved and settled. I did speak to James briefly many months back before all this upheavel started about a rifle build but after the family started dropping like flies everything changed and the idea went on hold.

I have a .260 with a Bergara barrel, the new barrel of which was fitted to a Sako 75 by James Clark.
If you would like to see it and fancy a trip south I am only about 1.5 miles from junction 16 A1(M) Norman Cross.
Seeing EMcC's post, I realised that I had forgotten about the excellent Cerakote finish and the invisible thread protector, also that I am very pleased indeed with my purchase.
Further update. The .260 bagged another Norfolk Red spiker this morning

I have a Bergara barrel fitted to my .222 by James and it can hit a 5p piece all day long at 100 yards or until I get fed up or the barrel gets hot !!
Incidentally that was using both home loads and PPU ammo. It would probably do as well further away but with my eyes and a 6 x 42 scope, 100 yards is good enough.
PS. It looks good too with it's ceracoated finish and a thread protector that is almost invisible.

I'd happily put Monkey Spankers 280AI by James against anybody too - if MS would kingly let me! It's a dead accurate rifle as are others I've used By James.
The only rifle I'm interested in is an accurate one and that's why many of us on here use James.
didn't know we had so many Bob Lee Swagger's on the site what with all the 1/2" groups and 5p being shot all day... 
always an emotive topic this. All I can say is do your research and get references.
I've had both good and bad experiences but yes, circa £800 depending on the barrel on a Sako.

This sort of money would get you a Sako 75 in 6.5 x 55 from a company with a reliable reputation.

i have the first 3006 rebarrel James Clarke did and it shoots sub MOA all day long.
I then lumped 8" of the barrel and turned it into a 16" tracking rifle and it still shoots sub MOA!
so will some one please tell me what the actual problem is with his work?
apart from being stacked out with work for being reasonably priced!?

i too have had work done by James, all of which are 1st class! i think people that are ****ed off with him cant handle the response time? he can be slow, at the end of the day hes stacked out with work for a reason! excellent work done at realistic prices! the proofs in the pudding! theres a lot of snobberry in shooting, especially Stalking! personally there are too many people out there charging over the odds for work done! and guess what it still wont make you any better at stalking!! possibly might make up for a shortfall in another department though!

On another note, if you listened to everyone else you wouldn't like or trust anyone, try finding out for yourself? theres always two sides to the coin and were not all perfect either! send the rifle to whoever you choose (maybe james in this case? maybe not) and take people as you find them!

Theres nothing wrong with his work as you and many others have experienced, it's the fact he is reasonably priced and the work is top quality that some don't like. Then you have the two faced R Soles who have stabbed him in the back. Throw enough mud it will eventually stick.

I can't believe I just wasted so much time reading this thread, I clearly am as sad as my wife tells me I am !!.
At least I have a new contact, Jager is just over the bridge for me and I have been thinking about a long term custom build.

James will openly admit his admin is crap, but his build quality is exceptional for the money!
