hi guys ,has anyone got any outfitters or contacts for Moose ? any where considered

Cheapest moose hunting is Newfoundland , smaller on the antler but big rangey bulls.I went with Randy Parson out of deer lake, only done it the once so my experience is limited to just this outfitter who caters to mainly meat hunters from the states, simple accommodation and food and flew in a boat plane which was cool[TABLE="class: cf gJ"]

What kind of price are we talking about?

Estonia has some good moose hunting I went 3 years ago. I will find the guys I went with. I don't have the details as my mate in Finland organised it.
We had 4 moose in one day.
Tusker

I don't have any experience, but Alberta is a good place to hunt them. Big bulls and usually cheaper than BC. Alberta Boy???

It just dawned on me that the state of Maine has an excellent moose hunt. It is by far the cheapest hunt with a very high success rate. You could do it yourself (better bring friends) or hire a guide. They also allow a sub permittee, 2 guys can hunt but only one moose may be taken. The guides are the least expensive that I have ever found. Downside, you have to be drawn and it may take a long time to get picked. See their web site.

Only 2740 moose shot in the state of Maine in 2015? 7476 moose shot in the county where i live in Sweden with a total of 96380 for the whole of Sweden for 2015. Not everything is larger in the USA ;)

I did it a few years ago in Finnish Lapland. Lucky enough to have a mate who I invited pheasant shooting over here (awesome experience for him as they don't really do driven shooting) and he invited me back on the Moose. Great experience, the different culture, the different way of doing things, the experience of shooting inside the arctic circle, the landscape and the quarry. The "sauna" experience and jumping through the ice into the lake afterwards will never be forgotten!

However, in terms of a pure hunting experience, I would take a day on the Reds in Scotland or Chamois in the Alps over Moose every time. Just me I expect.

It's definitely worth doing once as it is very different to what we are used to. A great life experience. But I probably wouldn't go again.

I must say its not my favorite hunting form. Our hunting team are quite mobile when we hunt moose. This is due to the fact our hunting ground is not massive and we are a few hunters. Plus the use of a garmin tracker on the dog. It does not appeal to me to sit out all day in the same hunting stand in the rain and cold.
My neighbor was out looking for tracks in the snow yesterday as we still have 2 calves to shoot.

Jagare,
That is quite a bag of moose. Wonder how many get hit by cars? I used to put in for 3 states moose hunts, did so for many years, never got drawn. While deer hunting in Idaho, I actually saw a moose on the hoof for the first time. It looked like a black battleship in the sage brush. My first thought was "I'm not going to deal with that" I have not put in for a moose hunt since.

Sweden has the tightest moose population in the world. Just had a look and up to the first couple of days of 2017 there were 7 moose collisions with cars.
Most of the main roads in Sweden are fenced to keep the moose of the roads.
As you say not a animal you want to handle on your own.
Here's a cow stood out the back of my house

I would like to add, that it matters not where you shoot them, they still don't taste nice, but their antlers look good.

I had some at a game dinner long ago, don't remember not liking it. Jagare, what about Swedish moose balls? No guys, not talking about the actual balls.

If you are looking to take a trophy Moose I would go to USA, if you are just looking to hunt Moose as an experience then go to Europe. I have hunted Finland several times and taken bull Moose.

Even a cow Moose takes a bit of work with the gralloch.

Moose meat makes OK meat balls. If we shoot an old moose most of it go's through the mincer. We got a young bull this year and still 2 calves to shoot so some decent eating this year. I often put a bit of moose meat in a poly bag and beat it out thin with a rolling pin. Its always tender if you do that ;).

USA is where I'd look to personally.
Scandanavian countries always charge a lot and you don't see many big trophies come from there.
