Sportsmatch mounts

Sportsmatch rings

Hi all

Has anyone used sportmatch rings? What are they like?

Their website reckons theye good to 50bmg so my 7mm08 shouldnt be a worry. I usuallyuse warne maxima but saw sportsmatch are make in uk and would rather support a uk company if they are good

Cheers

Hi,I was using Sportsmatch but with adapter blocks to get extra high on a Cz,seemed ok but with hindsight and changing to Warne ,they were not perfectly parallel with the bore or else my .222 was dropping 4 inches between 100 and 200 yards.

Scope mounts are a solution to a simple problem, often totally over engineered or over complicated

For years the simple Alloy Parker hale Roll off mounts were extremely popular and held zero on estate rifles across the land.
They may have had slightly better finish, tolerances and fittings but Sportsmatch are the modern equivalent and work just fine on centre fires and rim fires alike

I would however be astounded if they are actually made in the UK or anywhere this side of the Bosphorus!

Sportsmatch mounts are perfectly fine on a centerfire ..... unless you're a snob lol.
I'm using them on my tikka m695 in 7x57 and having no issues whatsoever!!!.
Made in England..... not a rip off like most centerfire mounts and it won't cost a fortune if you decide you need another set for a different scope.

Instead of listening to the non sportsmatch users who are quick to slate them because they aren't "proper centerfire mounts cos they are cheap and originally designed for heavy recoiling airguns" just go and buy a set and give them a go...... then report back to those snobs who say they aren't up to the job and tell them your findings.... a bit like I do.
They are the cost of a box of factory ammunition....

Scope rings don't have to be steel... unless you lime extra weight. .... and if your abusing your rifle to the point where the sportsmatch mount do break then I'm sure your scope etc will also be f@#ked!!!!!!!!!..

They are precision machined on cnc equipment no different to recknagel or tier one or blaser etc... not just chucked together on a lathe and milling machine...

So...............

Hi Ed, I did not look this up especially but noted it yesterday when ordering a set for a BRNO. Regs john.

Sportsmatch scope mounts will Optimize your Accuracy by offering a totally solid hold between your rifle and scope ensuring that your scope and therefore your point of impact will not move. However, we have over 70 models of ring mounts in our range so here is a brief guide to help you choose the best scope mount for your rifle and scope combination. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT CHINESE MADE COPIES OF OUR PRODUCTS THAT USE A SIMILAR NAME ARE BEING MARKETED BY SEVERAL LEADING OPTICS DISTRIBUTORS. GENUINE BRITISH MADE SPORTSMATCH QUALITY SCOPE MOUNTS WITH A LIFETIME GURANTEE CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY THE CIRCULAR BLUE MARK

So...............

Have used them, never again - nothing to do with snobiness. Oh and they are not precision machined they are extrusions by the look of them.

I've been extolling the virtues of the Sportsmatch series for years on this site. They're British made, and a fraction of the price of the snob series. If you have a Tikka then look no further than the T048. If a rifle isn't shooting straight with these, then the fault lies with the rifle IMO. Have these on everything from .22-250 to 7mm RM, none of which are moderated, so they do not budge under punishment.

I've used Sportsmatch, Redfield/ Leupold, Optilocks, Apel and Tier One.

From lowest to highest quality I'd also put them in that same order. For example, precision and machining of Apel and Tier 1 in a different league.

But, they are doing a relatively simple task, s whether there is a 'need' for higher quality is down to the buyer.

So, as usual, you pays your money and you takes your choice :tiphat:

As I was using mine with riser blocks it was possibly a little unfair, but I didn't have confidence to buy again and the Warne mounts are everything you could ask.

Interesting
I take it back
even more impressive that they can price them at their level when made here

I use Sports-Match rings and other mounts on all my gear since 2009, and am 100% satisfied with this excellent, good-value, UK made product.

My choice would be just the opposite to yours nightcrow, although I use a set of Warne mounts on one rifle I dislike Warne and regard the Sportsmatch mounts that I have on a couple of rifles as much better.

I did qualify my criticism, and, having combed the forums ,you are the first to criticise Warne mounts so we will just have to agree to differ.

It's the vertical split that I dislike making them such a fiddle to install, and also the fact that its so easy to loose the crossbar when you take off a set of Weaver type mounts and it drops out.
