make one up with a small engine and gearbox
here's one with a pump just remove the water pump add a gearbox and pulley and job done, I have knocked one up just need to machine a pulley up then i am a runner

I went overboard and went for a bigger engine as it will go on a quad and i think with the gearbox i chose its around 28ft a minute

why do you need a clutch on a winch two or three wraps on the pulley if you let off pressure it stops pulling I might be wrong but was under the impression this is how they work I have seen a few made the same way as I am setting mine up but if i have it wrong it would be handy to know lol, atb wayne ps I wasnt aware of the small capstans having a clutch

Would a srimmer/brushcutter power head be a good starting point for making ur own?
Will already have a clutch built in but don't know I would be powerful enough but u'd still need a gearbox attached somehow
