I can honestly say that never having unfolded the bipod on my rifle when stalking, it is no longer used. I may use a backpack, coat, sticks, tree branch, vehicle bonnet, whatever's convenient but a bipod, never. Unless you're in the prone position it's pretty useless, even then it's not rock steady. Even for hill stalking, you'll get a steadier rest from a backpack.

I didnt have the BDOD target printed out (bad planning, will give it another go when I have it printed) however I did get some range time in on the weekend and thought I'd give this a go with the targets I had to hand.
3 shots off my tripod sticks at 100yds with my home loads, pic below. I admit my black square is probably a bit bigger than the black dot, but I was still reasonably happy with this. Each of the squares on the paper is about 3/4" so had this been the real BDOD target I'd have probably gone just over the top of it.
I did completely mess up shot #3 and I hold my hands up to that - That was all on me!
It was good to do this and its really confirmed to me that I need to practice way more in real world stalking situations as opposed to just standard range shooting off a bench. I need to shoot off sticks, off fence posts, off tree branches, sitting, kneeling... and at a variety of distances.

I don't use them either & indeed do as you suggest; I was just suggesting that most people do probably lug a rifle around with one attached.

My zkk Bruno was shot performing like that if I did my job , I pulled the old barrel a rebarrelled it in 6br , tack driving accurate but a bugger for a second shot , won't feed from the mag worth a damn . I'll do the bsod with it in the week.

From the weekend setting up my .22-250
4 shots in the middle which were mine and the wife is the top right.
2 shots above were setting the zero after we finished.
Weren't really doing the dot test just setting up the rifle, seen this now so thought id put it up.
Disclaimer - .22-250 on a bipod at 'about 100' paced out. Haven't told the wife that she scored zero yet! edit: In all fairness that dot is a lot less than an inch so from the middle if that was enlarged to be an inch she would have scored at least 2.
