Sir Guy Wallace - The End of the Game

Great to hear he is still on the go. I bought a gwp pup from him 11years ago, it has been the best dog Ive every had.

oh yes still out there but as the title I'm not sure how many outings he has left, his daughter; Heather, keeps me up to date with the ole boy but like you I was introduced to him via pointers,English Pointers for me as I trained my own. a great caricature

I met Guy once at one of the dogs to deer days years ago having read his books. He's a great character and it's great to see he's still going. I heard about this project a few years ago, so I am glad he got out to Africa, and look forward to watching the full film.

Guy

I met Guy in Croatia when we were Boar hunting , he kept the whole lot of us entertained for the duration of the trip

enjoyed every minute

Fortunate to have met Guy, some truly funny stories, a friend had bought a GWP from him fully trained , the dog had it's problems as a youngster .. It ate game.. When asked how he cured it answer .. Well it ate them first rabbit and second and third by the fourth the ******* was full so retrieved the rabbit to hand. We had 11 years with that dog ,we used him for everything. Walk up shooting, wild fowling, finding foxs shot lamping, finding wondered deers. Remember once at a fox drive a fox was shot, the owner sent (Rick) he retrieved it like a rabbit to hand, the gamekeeper( long retired) still recounts the story of the Big hairy dog that picked up the fox like a terrier with a rat.

We took Guy and Tommy Brechney to dinner one night, both men well known with there prefered breeds of pointers , guy being a wirehair man and Tommy being a shorthaired man.. I can say it was one of the most entertaining nights I've had, between the friendly disagreements and snuff snorting it was a night never to be forgotten.

If Guy Wallace were a fictional character, people would complain that he was unrealistic. From his hoary sideburns to his muddy tweeds to his consummate guffaws, he's a museum piece, a relic of Empire. He's served in the army, lived in various parts of Africa and India, faced considerable deprivation and lived the high life at the expense of people he doesn't quite seem to recognise as human. Now, before he dies, he wants to hunt and kill a Cape buffalo. So why is he taking a vegan with him?...

Thanks for the "heads up" Anything GW touchs becomes more entertaining and informative because of the man.

The guy is a gem a real white hunter as it were old school no bolx kinda guy he lives as he wishes and washes when he won'ts, clean cups are for city folk so are clean pots and dishes , i'v had the grace to meet him a few times and He is a god among some.

Lovely man, I did a deer dog course at his house when he lived in mid Wales many years ago, when we had finished we all ended up in his kitchen about 15 of us and maybe 20 dogs including an enormouse Deer Hound he had.

As I said in an earlier post, I'd love to meet him( unfortunately I never will)

he is our kind of man, and one who deserves to be called "sir"

Does anyone have a copy of The Versatile Gundog that they'd be willing to sell? He looks like an interesting man.
