Looking to get a drone pro for my Blaser r8, thinking of mounting in on a tier one rail bolted to a Blaser saddle mount, interested to here/ see how anyone else is mounting them to there blasers, pictures welcome

thanks Matt

I’d be interested to see the tier one mount, I’m guessing it’s just a picatinny that bolts to the original blaser mount using the ring holes ?

Id say that might be your only option unless someone has managed to bolt the drone to the blaser mount doing away with the picatinny and picatinny mount

Get on eBay and look for picatinny Blaser Mount there is no need to use genuine Blaser lower mounts plus a tier one rail. Far cheaper and works very well.

Getting good eye relief can be a real pain with NV, & thermal. Most rails are too short, and you struggle to get the site back far enough. This will vary person to person.

I came across this http://gunstarmount.com/en-en/index.php?route=product/product&path=189&product_id=371 and find it works very well. It's not quick release, but re-zero's pretty well, if you tighten to the same torque each time.

I did see someone post what looked like a Blaser QD version for sale on a FB Blaser page, also very long, but before I could ask where it was from, it was removed, but they are out there somewhere.

Go onto Nightvisionforum and message fizzbangwallop ...he uses drone pro on a blaser....I sure which one tho

aka fizzbangwhallop on here too.....:norty:

i use use one of Bojan’s (aka zruncho on ebay’s) Long rear extended rails in conjunction with a kalixteknik cheek riser on my off-road Pro R93 for both the Drone Pro and a Wardy WT1 75-3 thermal. Bojan/ Zruncho is US based but it’s posted from Europe.... there’s also a U.K. based seller: artbymaria but I’ve bought from Bojan a few times now without a problem.

There’s also a slightly shorter rear end, lower rail which I’ve used for the DP without the kalixteknik without a problem before the longer rear rail came out.

Found it...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blaser-P...911165&hash=item237bb2719e:g:I7AAAOSw5cNYfV6L

And this is the slightly lower shorter one...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blaser-R...043301?hash=item25cd3be065:g:OFcAAOSwA3dYfVp7

The £ must be good at the moment. :???:

Gunstar are the manufacturer, and are based in Bulgaria.

I mounted a DP to my Blaser using a QR Contessa Mount with extended rear rail. Works a treat and perfect for eye relief with the extended rail.

Not sure if it helps but this is how i mounted my Yukon Photon.

I used a Contessa Blaser Picatinny Rail and then a Vortex reach back mount

Alan Rhone do lots of other mount types so that you can get the correct eye relief. You might find you need the extended model

I can't believe that holds zero long enough to be any use surely! You must be able to flex it side to side with the slightest sideways force on the scope.

Yes this probably the best solution. It will just give enough eye relief and is QD.

I was worried about this but the photon requires a reach back type mount, so much so that they even sell their own for it.

The vortex 1 piece is rock solid, I've held the gun by the tube in order to stress the mount a little and it's not lost zero. My biggest worry is the quality of the contessa rail in the blaser groves, there's not much bite there but it works!

The Contessa is very heavy, and I wasn't keen on the locking mechanism. The Yukon mount is as good as any other fixed mount, and at a reasonable price, but like most things, not from Scott Country !

I’ve used a tier 1 on a Blaser QD Mount on my 222 and 243 for 3 years on a photon, it sets the photon back perfectly the same as a day scope, very easy to use, no neck stretching - straight on it

I’m comfortable shooting out two 200 yds on foxes with the Ledray F900 or the pulsar NM 840 on board with good effect

I would say from experience the photon is good for two hundred yards for accurate shooting if all conditions are right

I know some guys stretch that further with doublers and different IR’s

I’m pretty confident with my set up to two hundred that’s a long way at night

Cheers
