SOLOGNAC trousers. Which to buy?

Afternoon all,

I'm looking to purchase some trousers for stalking. I've used moleskins for ages and also old issue dpm for when I won't be seem by others. Moleskins seem to wear through easily and I've head good things about the trousers on Decathlon.

The question is, as there seem to be a few different weights (100, 300, 530, 900 etc), which is best for general purpose walking stalking?

Nip in and try them on, I found them quite an odd shape (no bum) and after a few steps I was pulling them up at the back - although this could be just me

Well beyond the obvious fact that they fitted, they're pretty quiet, reinforced in the right places, quite rugged without actually being anti-boar armour like some of the trousers, others are very light indeed. Oh, and they're NOT CAMMO.

Thank you, very useful. I thought the 900's sounded a little heavy duty. :tiphat:

+1 been using mine for a couple of years now and can't fault them, comfy and tough.

I have the 300 . I tried on the higher numbers and almost broke out in a sweat immediately. Haven't worn them stalking yet but a good fit. I am not a big chap but found i needed the large size.
Tusker.

Solognac stuff is great value.

I've got the 500 and 900 trousers.

The 500s are waterproof and fleece-lined. They're great for sitting in the argocat, for sitting on the quad, for sitting in the truck, and presumably for sitting in a highseat. Any amount of movement in any temperature and i'm sweating!

The 900s are the non-reinforced ones. They're not waterproof and not fleece-lined, but they're great on the move and fast drying.

Horses for courses etc. I really rate both of them though and they're about 20% of the price of some other brands' equivalent products.

I have the inverness 300 and am very satisfied going on 4 years with the same pair.

also have a waterproof pair(not sure which) fleece lined, but they are noisy buggers to walk around in, great for standing around but no good if you want to stalk with no noise.

How did you get on with the slightly confusing size guide?

Good point. I guessed.

The drop down menu when purchasing uses EU sizing numbers and then 'US' letters i.e. M/L. The size guide on the website's help area lists EU numbers and 'universal size' letters.

As you will have seen the 'US' size letter and 'Universal Size' letter do not correlate with the EU numbers. Highly confusing. I took a gamble after not being able to contact customer services on the phone. Being an EU based company I went with EU numbers and I'm hoping a 42 (82-85cm) equates to a UK 32-34in waist even though the 'US' size was S/M and on the size guide a 42 equated to a 'universal size' M/L

Thanks, it wasn't clear to me. I'll maybe try the 44 then.

I’ve got about four pairs

And the range from the el cheap silent ones to ones around £45 which good but not too heavy / warm for me and the rustle quite bit ... I can’t remember what “model” they are or sizing and I can’t check as I’m away with work ... sorry that doesn’t help !

Just ordered a pair of Inverness 300, added a neck warmer to qualify for the free postage...... will report back when received. :thumb:

Steppe 300 are incredibly hardwearing (as they have reinforcing patches on them), quiet and great for summer months.

Taiga 100 are fleece lined and my "go to" choice for colder days. They'll need thermals for a high seat but they're warm enough for everything else.

Posikam 100 are fleece lined, waterproof and incredibly warm BUT are noisy.
