BASC Council Elections.

Done. It's a crying shame that not more stalkers are on the list to give use more representation. Most of the candidates are admin types or "professional experts".

It's a crying shame so few members bother to even vote.

Last year it was less than 2,450 out of 149,000 members, or 1.6% of the membership.

If that ain't apathy, then I dunno what is. :(

You have my vote.
I think to say you are going for it on SD is a strong thing to do. But you will also see how people feel on the issues we have.
Good luck. I hope you make some changes or at least let us be heard.

Thank you.

I have to agree about the need for more people to vote. It would show more people were engaged with the BASC and they might have to listen more.

David.

There is a degree of "what is the point", so remote are the Council from reality it would appear. The first issue is to make BASC real to those who support it, rather a difficult task, given the recent history of events.

Perhaps if the org actually did something for its membership they'd be more inclined to care .....

Bit of a catch-22 that though. 'I won't vote because they don't listen or care anyway', but then why should 'they' care if you aren't going to comment in the second most important way you can (after paying your subs)?

If you (justifiably) aren't happy with BASC and the status quo, that's the time when it's most important to vote, surely?

Or vote with your wallet like I did ...

And THAT is the bloody point!.

If you can't be arsed to engage with the organisation by voting in the election, why the hell should they care what you think?
Whining on TSD isn't going do do squit, whereas actually voting for someone who appears to give a damn just might.

Apathy grips my s**t in all its forms, so stop bloody well moaning & GET INVOLVED!

Apologies for using your thread to rant David but you're one of the good guys who actually cares enough to get involved & seeing all this "what's the point" whining only serves to highlight the importance of ignoring the pointless whiners & doing what you're putting yourself up for.

No apology needed or expected.

I voted for David - did you vote?
Quite a lot of pressure is exerted by people who complain. Nobody wants to complain, most who do also vote in the vain hope someone like David will change the Organisation for the better. People in Swifts day on Council were rather sidelined it seems to me - what is needed is people who do NOT follow the Status Quo and relate to those who support by membership, until, of course, they get fed up in my case, about 7 years. I would say no-one complains until they have been a member.

There's non so blind as those who will not see.

Name calling on this site is NOT allowed. Warnings have been given in the past and will not be given again in future.

Hmmm possibly idiots like yourself who will constantly support an organisation that's pretty much useless rather than explore other organisations??

Yeah, righto.

I guess you conveniently "forgot" I support THREE organisations who purport to speak for us.

You just carry on whining on the internet (as if that'll achieve anything...) whilst some of us put time into actually writing to people, pestering our MP's & doing our best to ensure these organisations ARE working for us.

No wonder we're backed into a corner if you're an example of what constitutes a "proactive member of the shooting community".

I did indeed vote & pestered a couple more local members into doing so too.

I'm making the effort, unlike some 'idiots', who think we should all just give up trying to change things & bury our heads in the sand.

Admin will not tolerate name calling between members on this site. IF you cannot have a decent debate without calling anyone an idiot or other names you will be removed.

This is an open forum, so any one in the world can read this site. Here we are all shooters, stalkers, fishermen etc and again we see divided opinions that do NOTHING to help us in our cause to keep the sport we all love intact

Well stated admin, sometime the wee small hours are not the best time to post if you are tired.john

I have met David and spent a weekend stalking with him. I found him to be a straight up bloke and he will be getting one of my three votes, even though he does advocate strange calibres :D

Any help with my other two votes will be greatly received. Looking for a voice for shooting and not an old boys club!
