A reasonable request given the way that antis manipulate a trophy photo on social media for their own ends.

Can’t help but feel this is a very sensible action to take, remove the fuel from the anti fires, without the pictures they really have very little propaganda to spew. Good call, I hope other countries follow suit.

Donning my Devil's Advocate hat..... :)

Should this forum also ban pictures of dead animals hunted?

Exactly this.

I was curious to see if anyone would agree with the Namibian viewpoint yet think it acceptable to post photos on this forum?

Well, to the best of my knowledge I’ve never posted a photo of me with a shot beast, and I don’t intend to start, I happily post a phot of a shot animal on its own but no need to make it some sort of glory shot, it’s only ever going to attract negatives and serves no point, most people when they do post these pics on here scrub out their faces, so what’s the point!

Personally, I wouldn't post a photo of an animal I'd shot online, unless there was some kind of abnormality or something like that and I wanted advice. But that's largely because, to me, doing a write-up for you guys to enjoy gives me a better memorial of the day.
However, I have no issues with others posting pics, but I think they should exercise restraint, and only post those few special ones.

Namibia government is only responding this way as their bottom line has been reduced. Fewer hunters are spending their hard earned because of trophy bans, especially in the USA, which is a knock on of posting of photos. john

Even if that's the only reason (and I'm not saying it isn't a reason) then it's pretty reasonable for the Namibian Gov't to request. Especially given how much weight we as hunters give to the argument that our practices help the economies of countries who do allow, and put the effort in to regulate their hunting.

I would dearly love to hunt in Africa one day - I just hope that it is still available once I've saved long enough to be able to do it. If requests like this help keep it alive, then I'm in favour.

This is ridiculous,it is a case of pandering to the antis, give an inch and they get a mile..

I hunt and take my game, I take my photos to record the day and if the antis don`t like it,well the point is that I am not shoving it down THEIR throats...... they are the ones looking for it "it " being that inch = mile!

They are on this forum for sure watching, waiting and trying to garner ammo to use against us all.

Why is it we are prepared to kowtow to them all the time,my answer is if it is legal to hunt (take pics too) why in the world should we stop for those ****s?

I find on a personal note that the 'anti dog trapping/shooting brigade"are best answered by posting photos of torn apart sheep and calves and actually demonstrating that they (antis) are misguided and that I am willing to debate such with the most eminent scientists that the antis can thrust forward.

Another thing however small is that I live in a community where deer hunting/shooting/killing is seen to be just another role that one does by living here. Antis will not get a guernsey in this town so they as usual continue to thrust and divide in the cities where the average dolt thinks that his chicken is born in a plastic wrap and that shooting crop raiding animals, deer to elephants is bad....
I have to ask what do antis think of moving to Africa to live and then their neighbourhood being terrorised by a man eating lion... quick get someone with a gun!

We as hunters should be fighting these schittbags instead of bending over continually for another rights eroding arse reaming.

Come on you Poms, remember Rorkes Drift ffs.........dont give up!

On a parting shot, here is the non gun method being used,it will be all over the world when guns are banned! IE a "free shovels" central location in every town!

This video is one that should be shown to all antis/greens.

Not everyone will be aware of the species you can hunt. They may be unaware of the differences of a trophy and typical management hunt etc. Plenty of posts don't have faces blurred out.

But my actual question wasn't what you do, it was, should this forum ban pictures in your opinion? :)

I have a 4 year old boy. I dearly hope I'll be able to hunt in Africa with him one day. I guess the clock is ticking though.

My boys are 4 and 3, and both desperately want to come hunting with me now. BTW I really enjoyed your write-up of your recent Namibian hunting, and am very envious. Liked the pictures as well and thought you did a good job picking your images.

But I think that the sad truth is that the people who hate what we do and want to stop it at any cost, can make effective and destructive use of even tasteful imagery - and God knows there's enough out there that ain't particularly tasteful.

I believe if we want it badly enough we can keep it alive - but that may mean additional sacrifices around things like imagery and "trophies" (a term now so contaminated by the largely fictitious idea that people hunt in order to decorate their houses). Part of that is demonstrating at every opportunity that conservation is a higher priority than killing. It does us no good to point out that conservation sometimes requires killing - it just makes us look as though we're trying to justify what we want to do.

For now at least - I'm prepared to take the Namibian government's request at face value. It's simply too easy for hunting pictures to be abused by antis. And for all that that is sad, it isn't pictures of Cape Buffalo that makes me want to hunt one, it's hearing (or reading) the accounts of the experience - and the hope one day of being able to relive that for myself...

NAPHA has reported the restrictions are currently on hold pending proposals from the hunting industry about a practical way forward for ethical marketing practices.

Dont be fooled, once the 'hunting imagery ' is gone/banned the antis will photoshop (as they do) to continue to push their agenda of no hunting period...I maintain,we should not pander to them!

Look at this DISTASTEFUL photo ffs,it is a nightmare inducing image! Nightmare as in these people want to run the show!

The problem is that even if an animal really needs to be killed for management/health purposes, no benefit is gained by sharing a photo of someone with a dead giraffe/elephant/whatever. It only fuels vitriol which then leads to decisions being made which impact the ability of local communities to benefit from legitimate wildlife management.
