New format?

Not one for liking change, is there anyway members can (should they choose) revert back to the former layout for this site?? I’m sure we will learn to live with the “improvements” but for now they’re just plain horrible!

I tend to view the forum either by latest activity or by posts I'm in. Not quite as intuitive, but had it sussed in a minute or two.
Liked forum function whereby you could hover the cursor over a post and the first sentence or so of the actual post would appear: not sure that works in this format ?

The "threads I'm in" function only seems apply to posts from today onwards, not historically, which is a nuisance.
Maybe the new design will look better on a larger screen? Only viewing on my phone at the moment, and finding navigation very difficult as I can't see enough at a time.
Looks like a kids site, TBH.

Looks like the cheap Windows panel layout on laptops & phones I avoid buying. Cheap & tacky. Glad I dont pay! Bottom of screen on old site you could choose web or mobile views etc, this one I can only find a Help Page with no help just not such grown up things like smilies!?

No location, no go to 1st unread post, unless i've missed something, and unless you have an avatar it looks pretty simplistic.

I'm sure Alex will be along to give you chapter and verse on the new layout. Basically the old one was not fit for purpose and required constant fixing, debugging etc so the decision was mad to invest in more suitable technology. It is just as alien to me as it is to you, but I'm sure that in time it will become second nature. The bootom line is the old site needed fixing.

Thanks for that well thought out, reasoned and eloquent reply. As you said you don't pay so for free it can't be too bad.

It doesn't seem to save login details. I got in at the third password guess. Now having to enter username and password on every visit.

Where is the threads I'm in button - I can't find it?

John/ Alex - I'm sure we are a bit enfangled with the new layout but well done on investing in, and actually delivering, an IT improvement project.

You have succeeded where captains of industry, banks and governments have failed :D

Seriously - thanks for the efforts you guys put in and appreciate fixing whatever-it-was-that-needed-fixing to keep this great resource working for us all.

It won't remember the login for old system to the new system, there's isn't much we do about that. Once you're are on the new system it should remember you.

It's new so today is the start of it's life, the beginning of history.

Certainly not easy to find and follow the threads I'm interested in anymore. Preferred the old layout myself. It looked more professional.

Have you tried the drop down menus at the top of the page.
