top lever spring broken in Sarasqueta

Hello. In theory these are pretty much the same from one Sarasqueta to another as although these guns were bench finished they are "machine made" guns in that the top lever springs will have been from a stock all made the same that may require the tiniest amount of fitting if at all.
There is a belief that AYA made most of the actions for the "lesser" Spanish makers who then completed the gun to a lesser or greater degree and put their name and trademark on it. In the same way that Webley & Scott did with shotguns in the United Kingdom. So you may be lucky as below....
Therefore it may be worth contacting AYA who do hold spare springs for AYA guns (and that may fit) or Helston Gunsmiths at Water Ma Trout if there's no longer a current source of factory Sarasqueta springs. Or speak with Scott Wilson at Holt's who may be able to source a replacement.

They are probably the easiest spring to fit and replace on any SxS assuming however that you can undo the screws and the pins to free the action from the stock. So you may need good turnscrews and luck! I hope that all goes well and when those guys assembled the gun that they greased the threads on the pins. As I sure though that you'll do so when you re-assemble it. LOL!

The traditional "in the field" fix (if you were away for a few day's shooting) was a piece of bicycle tyre inner tube, around the wrist of the gun, cut like a squid ring you get from the fish shop. So therefore as long as you can keep the top lever in the closed position that way the gun is usually safe to shoot. But you do so at your own risk! I suppose there's merit at least in the old Jones underlever!

In Portugal.. I was going to order one online but because I couldnt pull the gn apart to view the spring I didnt know what I was looking for exactly. So I discovered a very reputable gunsmith here that happened to have spare springs in shop. with a bit of grinding and fitting was over in an hour.
It was a fairly simple operation, one that anyone can do with some time, tools and patience.
