BASC responds to revocation of general licences

It was settled out of court in the end to save face and snap decision made because the lawyers told them, that will be the official answer not because mates agreements it takes ministers to change and make laws not heads or manager of NE ,

people are talking about counter lawsuits, who are they gonna make that against, I get this is all stupid and definitely wrong timing for pest controllers, keepers etc etc but it is perfect timing for those fighting against country sports .

I said this a while ago and noone listened, anti's will stop lobbying Westminster for change they are now using the courts finding the many hundreds of backdoors to get to make life hard for all our community and we are our own worst enemy,

The fact you have guys openly advertising Pigeon shooting days as sport, NOT PEST CONTROL, and various other days out hiding under the general license has screwed it for all, that would be like deer managers advertising night shooting for deer because a license has been obtained to shoot deer at night. So many now took advantage of the general license laws to make money and that defeated the purpose of the GL in the first place. Openbly advertising was the big mistake made.

In the lawsuit that Packham has put forward he did mention social media, so forums like this one are monitored and we know the antis are against the sporting community.

We all understand why we need the GL, and those genuinely using the GL for its purpose are the ones affected by this but again greed has caused major issues within our communities.

Like or lump it what I am saying is true again we are our own worst enemies the antis know this.

YES! Pigeons cannot be shot for sport. The social media (and paper media) posts of someone grinning while stood over 100 dead pigeons is only going to serve one purpose...to pi55 off the antis. Anyone who can a) read and b) use the internet can investigate anything..ever heard of Bellingcat?

Im old enough to remember when it was kept on the quiet. As my father used to say "tell 'em nowt".

If you put it on the net, you may as well stand in a busy highstreet and shout it out.

We live in emotional times. Bare in mind a 16 year old girl has got about 0.5m followers on Twitter and meets with political leaders and is being taken seriously.

This first attack is specifically aimed at wild birds, in particular,
the crow family and pigeons. (GLO4) These are covered ,or were, by the General Licence.
In practice we just carried on as normal, controlling numbers as best we could.
Woodpigeon were the poor mans sport. BUT in reality all wild birds are protected
and its illegal to kill or disturb them. So its only the exceptions in the legislation and General Licences
that allowed us to shoot them. Now suddenly we are outlaws if we want to go out and shoot a crow or a woodpigeon..
Next target will be wildfowl, game birds, woodcock, foxes badgers hares, rabbits, squirrels, then gun ownership,

Activists have a numerous ways of attacking us, criminal damage, intimidation, sabotage, civil dissobedience, infiltration into politics and statutory bodies, charites etc.
Now by crowdfunding, "WILD JUSTICE " is mounting legal challenges. Well at least this is lawful. Perhaps it might clear up ambiguous legislation,
but I fear not to our advantage.

We say it ourselves, much of our laws are inconsistent and open to interpretation . But we only complain about the inconsistencies that dont benifit us but how many of these acts have we benifited from over the years that we just keep quiet about?

Look at night vision it is clear in Scottish legislation it is illegal to use that type of scope on deer day or night but honestly English legislation is very vague and open to interpretation with one clause contradicting other. Again other legislations we follow have the same problems . It is illegal to use an electronic caller on birds for instance but many callers come with bird calls and people use them and because noone has been prosecuted for it people dont know the legislation exists. How many guys on here have used 90 or 95gr bullets on reds and sika in Scotland ? I know I dont but many do.

It is a fact that these antis "Wild Justice" have stopped attacking us in fields and and forests they are now attacking the very legislation that have been un policed for such a very very long time.

I just hope Chris Packham attacks thr practices of his own organisations such as the RSPB and theor keepers practices of the thousands of crows they shoot a year and the thousands of deer, foxes etc .

I spoke to a lass that was raising money for hedgehogs through the RSPB and I told her I wont donate to a charity that wont control the primary species that kills what they are funding for and that is badgers . The RSPB dont support conservation they support the pockets of their own chair.

Anyways . In the end I can see many more cases where legislation will be attacked and it will effect shooting as a whole. This ban only effects those who are charging to shoot pigeons if the individual licenses work as they should then thos who need it will get it.

Honestly though it has been NE that have messed up with their own legislation and those taking advantage of the GL for their own pockets . Nothing much can be done other that wait and see whats next.

If any of the mods don't like this and think politicly its to close to the bone please remove and let me know. Look we all know people break the law of shooting and everything else, its human nature.
I have shot a lot of Deer on licence at night, I did it for a few years and I always stayed within the law, but I know plenty that didn't.
I have to admit I have never given it a thought about people taking payment for pigeon shooting and I admit that's my mistake.
However this post is about the BASC etc and although a lot of what you say is correct I still have my reservations and fears and I can tell you why.
On the 18th of march I was informed about Packham and his mates, my first response was to phone CA and BASC, both simply stated nothing would come of it! really? again they cannot deny sitting on their backsides drinking tea! and then stating it was a surprise to them on 23rd of April.
Next there comes the fact that wild justices timing! not timing with the pest control season as most are stating, but the timing of who they dealt with!, its just TOO much of a coincidence to me, maybe I'm just to cynical in my old age, but I don't like this type of coincidence.[check out the photos below]
I am sorry but people should get on at these bodies, the BBC as well and Pack and his merry bunch of men, they should all be given hell.
Why have we not been giving Packham greif over the fact he is director of a Zoo, that cages animals for public to see for payment, these animals fed on meat! and this in 2019, Hypocrite.
Why is no one Jumping on another member, Mark Avery, who spent a good deal of time as the RSPBs director of conservation. Do you think the lawful killing of vermin and deer to protect avian habitats on RSPB ground was done under a general license that was in his opinion now un-lawful? And do you think he’d ever have the balls to reveal to his fellow crew members how many animals were killed under his direction for 13 years?, just think about that.
And finally
A bit of a coincidence, the first day on the job of the new Natural England Chairman and the general licences rescinded on the same day! 57581534_10103506096501915_7624658477683572736_n.webp 58583848_10103506096461995_3527174426493714432_n.webp
A quick Google and he's a vice chair of friends of the earth, campaigns for WWF and a candidate for the Green Party. I question if this individual is acting impartially as a government official.
This is an outrage! Please write to your MP and highlight this and the impact the cancellation of the General Licenses will have. 57964065_10216807980084674_2688193848445763584_n.webp
