Entry level single shot rifle

I was looking at handguns with a friend last week, and the store had a bunch of new Henry and Marlin rifles - mostly lever actions in .357 and .44 Magnum. But they also had a Henry single shot rifle in .30-30, for $349.00 USD. It is not fancy, but is finished pretty nicely. It might be something you gents want to look into over there.

The Marlin 1894 18 inch carbine in .357 and the CB with a heavy octagon 20 inch barrel was very nice. I am so glad to see them coming back.

The trouble is that it won’t be anything like that price by the time it gets here.
The other thing is that there’s not really a market for them. Not if the previous cheap single barrel rifles are anything to go by.
Don’t get me wrong I had a Baikal in 222 it did the job (not overly accurate at range). But it is very rare to see them about in gun shops. I don’t think there was ever a massive demand.
I suppose if it was easier for us to chop and change rifles there might of been a few more about.

I had a look at a Sabatti earlier in the year at the Jagd & Hund show. Looks like a nice entry level Kipplauf - bit of a long winded video on it,

Also the Haenel

Sabatti makes some nice rifles, like the Rover, and several double rifles on shotgun frames. I once saw a Sabatti O/U in .444 Marlin.

Yes, the Ruger No. 1 and Winchester 1885 actions are Hell-for-strong, and very good looking, too.

I wish I could get a Bergara BA13 over here.

This Henry break action is like a revival of the old Winchester and Stevens single shot rifles built on 20 gauge frames as farm guns, to stand behind the kitchen door. They came in .30-30 and .22 Hornet.

Mines in 45/70. It’s fun to shoot. Not used with full wack ammo yet but it makes a hell of a noise

I tried to get a TC Encore prohunter in 308 about 7 years ago through Viking Arms, I think. Lovely short rifle, very pointable. Saw it on their stand at the Brit Shooting Show, and fell in love.
Unfortunately, despite me showing an awful lot of interest I never received any reponse from the importer, despite a number of attempts.
You can sometimes see one or two via Guntrader, usually in 22lr.
EABCO do replacement barrels. reasonable prices, if you can do the importation faff.
