how to delete an old account

Hi, how do I delete an old account. I opened one in 2009 which I remember I couldn't access, but now can, but as I have my usual account I would like to delete this one.

I can merge the account into your old account if you want? We tend not to delete the account because the posts won’t exist any more.

We can rename accounts, delete personal details, email accounts, edit personal details in posts...(all GDPR info) but generally not the posts themselves. It’s a forum site, you can’t delete posts without it making no sense at all to other people who have answered you.
