Not disputing that and can understand it, but CA, NGO/SGA and Sacs are almost the same money.
They may not be doing any more than basc but are doing a hell off a lot more than a random private ins company who's purely in it for the money.

It's never been more important for shooters to be a member of an org, ANY Org.
That private company won't give a stuff if shooting is stopped.

But to leave moaning about lack of voice/action then join a private company just seems fairly hypocritical to me.
Esp when it would only cost u an extra 5er to join any of the above if that
Oh I fully agree there I’m a member of Ngo gwct and songbird survival , I just think claiming basc have a voice is a touch erroneous

never been with them got a good price for our syndicate from SACS £35.00 per member same cover as Basc but as we shoot in Scotland hey

I do find these threads interesting, there are some clear BASC bashers on this thread who, I have had runnings with previously and of course there minds will never change they talk of previous years in BASC and previous CEO's.. now it is a different team and different times

BASC are the only people I see doing anything on this forum .. or any other forum continuously - yes others pop up hear and there but what do they do .. where are there statements about the anti shooting motion? I have not seen another.. coincidence ...?

BASC are the voice of shooting. However, we all need to still do our bit complete surveys write to MP's and so on - the anti shooting brigade will all be emailing and supporting each other continuously we are known not to respond.. look in the mirror..

What BASC done in 2018

What other org comes close? Show me ?

Laughable truly laughable

Countryside Alliance employ 65 full-time scientists who write peer-reviewed papers which are then used to scientifically defend our way of life. That seems like a good investment from where I’m standing.

Agreed, that is a good way forwards, the GWCT do very similar - show me where they defend shooting to the same extent as BASC ?

All organisations are worth supporting if you can afford. I am not knocking any of them .. in fact I am a member of a a few however, I can see that BASC clearly support shooting the most ..

The 'BASC-bashing' label has become a bit of a lazy way of undermining and delegitimising the very real and heartfelt disappointment that many people on here feel about the underperformance of our largest shooting organisation.

Personally, I am slowly coming to the view that we need to wrest back control of the place from the appeasers and insist upon a greater level of militancy. Starting again ain't a winning strategy. BASC belongs to us; not to a bunch of staffers with pensions to protect.

Hi Carl,

The BASC bashing label is aimed at people I believe would not change what they say regardless of how well BASC perform. Of course people have the right to be disappointed if they feel let down however many of these people are not BASC members but continue to complain.. so BASC clearly does not belong to them.

You said you would consider running for council, go for it I say you seem like a measured guy. who knows you may see things differently from the inside ? either way there is nothing to loose and only so much to gain .

Hi Terry,

Personally, I would prefer to have @kes and @jimbo1984 on the council. I would happily support and campaign for either or both of them.

If they won't do it then we need to find some other candidates from the Stalking Directory and throw our collective weight behind them (with some former members rejoining BASC in order to vote and campaign appropriately).

As for my own candidacy, being on a committee or part of any club is my worst nightmare. I'll be a last-resort candidate if none of the other folks on here are willing to do it. I am not prepared to see BASC and the countryside community continue to fail.

Best,

Carl

I don't think it is the staffers who are the real problem. I think it is council and as I have said more than once in the past people won't read the stuff about candidates and won't/can't be bothered to vote.

David.

Carl,
If I could obtain the support - I would stand on the basis of what we have all discussed over many months.
I would do it simply to back up what I and others have said and report via SD on a weekly basis.
I don't feel however its likely we would (collectively) obtain the support of enough members. If others believe I should support Jimbo , I am very happy to do that and join for this single purpose.
Would be helpful to know what members and non members think.
We collectively dont have much time so, having written to the president, its apparent nothing will happen without a 'presence'. Let me know - happy to assist in any way.

What do you all think? Let's hear it, please fellas. Up for us rallying around one of 'em and getting them elected? Need to know the level of likely support for this; otherwise, we can spend another year all whining about things...

Best,

Carl

Carl , thank you for your confidence , truly it’s humbling for you to consider me , but I think kes would make a much better council member than myself , and should he decide to stand I’ll support him fully , I have every confidence in him and yourself
Kind regards , jim

Even if you read the stuff put out by candidates it’s like politicians they only put what’s going to get a vote.
perhaps it needs that you can only be on the council for 3 years with 1 or 2 years before being up for election again.
