OK kes I do support you if you go for it because someone needs to make the difference and I like your bluntness as its a kin to myself, however I do have to say with the greatest respect that if a couple of members on here don't agree with you or say something you don't agree with "no matter what it is" and you look to spit the idea of running to council out of the window,
A.. What do you think folks are going to say to you when/ if you were to be appointed..
B.. How do you think the guys from BASC felt when they tried to come on here and give accounts of things "no matter you feelings on them they tried to inform an engage" only to be ridiculed by many. Not sticking up for BASC but for the people themselves..
I hope you do run as said above as things do need to change.
Regards
Jimmy
But I thought kes’s comments were “ odious basc bashing “ how can you possibly agree ?Agree and support.
That was not a bad account,
Reading the scores of Kes's BASC post is like watching master mind ...
26 points in his specialist subject, only passing on 2
General knowledge 5 points, more passes than a game of rugby...
On SD many people take people out for their first stalk, which in a number of cases there first deer...
People give stuff away, chuck cash in to charities...
In a very few cases rip the arse out of people,
Some travel to other countries for a trip....
Know wonder the BASC staff post very little knowing the 25 pounder is dialed in on their location..

Tim, you do have a problem with me don't you. The dislike is more important than being correct but at least you seem to have seen that this needs doing - why dont you, of such vast practical experience, largesse in taking people stalking, giving away equipment and money to charities do the job yourself you also seem quite good at criticism from behind your key board persona.
If one is correct in one's criticism, are you saying that one should avoid any criticism ?

Hang on.....a few weeks ago you stated " you couldn't here me" with me on your ignore list....
Toby ( Border) was coming from Norway to mine for 5 days stalking but has had to cancel....
(JVR) Johan is landing on the 31st from SA for a 11 day trip stalking, duck, London trips etc...
(Oooowe) Grant is stopping off for a day to break up a long trip back to his from a stalking trip....
(Marine Jim ) is driving up for 2 days stalking foxing...
Another SD member is coming for a driven day and lunch...
(Paul O) comes wildfowling foxing and pigeon shooting....
(Fish Boy) came up for a lesson with his gun to see about fit from my friend Peter Theobold while the rest of SD sat back and typed answers to the extreme....
Toby got his first fallow....

First Fox...Know First Fallow....
After his first fox the other night we saw Muntjac feeding on the edge of the field, keen to get his first deer we met up at 8 with a brief about what where and how I expect him to do. Light breeze in out face was the key, I looked up the headland for our quarry with the bins and he tapped me...www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk

Thanks for the reply Kes, all valid points I have to agree, the only thing I could say is that I'd never for one moment thought you had a blasé or casual attitude to the task that hopefully you will take on,Jimmy,
Thanks for the comments - I hope this is sufficient reply for you at this point.
The job I am being asked to do for everyone, not many would do -time required, confrontation, little, if any, support within BASC. A poisoned chalice accurately sums this up - how would you feel, if willing to commit to the above, some people seek beforehand to undermine the effort involved or me personally. I have no doubt I will live with vilification if I was appointed to BASC Council - part of what I am being asked to do.
As for your point B, trying to defend actions which I find (and others also) in large part indefensible is a problem they are paid to solve. I dont do this with personal animosity unless someone falsely calls me e.g. racist. To commit the time and effort I am proposing to do is not to be countenanced lightly - yet David BASC whom I know personally, is mostly (not quite always) a gentleman, when responding - he also rightly has limits when being criticised, he also is passionate about what he does.
We often see things from different perspectives but there is no need for abuse - If you can find a post of mine where I have abused a member of BASC gratuitously I would be surprised. However, now I have mentioned it you can rely on Tim.243 trying to find one.
I have been criticised for posting a photograph of a member of staff which is freely available on the internet. BASC provide photos of all their staff as in the most recent exposure. People see what they want to see but I think I was reasonably correct in the face of a label of being racist.
So my dilemma is, do I do what I would like to do with all the travelling time committed and criticism I can expect or do I just forget it and leave this site ? The more criticism I receive personally, the less likely I am to commit time for the common cause. I have had no comments on BASC accounts which I asked for and it has become clear that help and support will be not what I can expect, so, what I would do as a Council Member would be largely because it needs doing. Comments like those of Liveonce are simple and very supportive - in fact what I had hoped for - no more.
I hope this brief summary helps you to see things from my perspective - and perhaps refrain from terms like "spit the idea of running for Council out of the window" as though my perspective on all this is casual ?

I have no issues with "Hooray Henrys" and don't see class as an issue I've enough self confidence to take people as I find them, however I do think the public school boy persona preaching to the masses grates on peoples nerves, a more down to earth chap such as Dave the plumber providing he is articulate enough would do a much better job IMHO.Kes and Carlw I commend you for trying to make a difference with BASC and putting KES forward as a candidate. In this respect you have my full support. However I think you will be trying to enter an area where only the chosen few go. I am afraid in my opinion BASC lost its vision of what it stands for many moons ago, too many Horray Henrys. Don't ask, I have met them over the years.

Define real world, just because someone went to a posh private school doesn't mean they don't do a full days work, many of them are astute business men who have founded highly successful companies. I just think that someone who is articulate, level headed that appeals to a wider audience base would be far more successful than a person who is judged to be a "toff" because it is irrelevant what they say because average Joe has already decided against him.I don't think your view of "hooray henrys" is the issue, rather their perception of us. "dave the plumber" may well get a great reception from the guy in the street, but will he be regarded as an equal by the old boys elite committee??
It should follow, if you don't live in the "real" world, you shouldn't be dictating how others should conduct themselves within it.
Reading your posts I don't think you'll ever be accused of being a toff, providing you can get the message across clearly and concisely without rubbing people up the wrong way then you might well be the man for the job. Does being a former engineering manager mean that you can change a tap? I've never met you, you might well be a complete bell end but good luck. For info, I have written to BASC CEO asking if I would be prevented from joining - in view of my criticism or whether I would be subsequently removed from membership under the BASC Constitution, were I to be elected to Council - no point in wasting an election for the'gang' as Carl puts it.
If Cumbrian's comment is directed at who he would prefer to see represent him then fine - happy to defer to 'Dave the Plumber' but do let me know so he can stand.
I am keeping Carl W up to date and will happily answer any queries, anyone who actually wants me to stand raises, personally.
Be clear, I am not 'Dave the Plumber' but I am well educated, a former engineering manager, degree qualified and beyond 3 professional qualifications post grad in Engineering and a former member of the Institute of Management but dont suffer fools gladly. Your choice folks.
If confirmed able to stand and asked to stand I will, naturally publish a note of the other stuff.
Cheers 'Gang'.

I have worked for people who were born into landed gentry,[still do] and were schooled at Eton, millionaires all of them by the time they were pulled off the matrons tit. most have no fecking idea what any ones life is like other than their own, but some, a few, really do want to know, and I have the privilege of being a friend to some of those few, and were I not to have met one of those people some four decades ago my future such as it was looked pretty bleak, and we learned from each other and both became better people, It ain't just about breeding,Eton education, and being successful in business, you have to really want to know of those outside the secular "toffs" elite world, only then can you know "the real world" outside of your own protected "bubble".Define real world, just because someone went to a posh private school doesn't mean they don't do a full days work, many of them are astute business men who have founded highly successful companies.
