So Trophy Consultation will look to ban all trophy hunting

Well I suggest we all fill in the lengthy forms asking our views on this matter, which I did sometime back. Its a ridiculous suggestion, and to the point of where it will damage more wildlife than protect it. I am not even voting this time round, personally I am fed up with all politicians and what they represent.

At what stage is it appropriate to just loudly shout " this is nonsense and we're just not going to comply we will challenge every single confiscation through the courts"
This policy is being pursued purely because it's sponsor believes it will be popular and garner a few extra votes.
Based on previous form the targets of the policy will mutter and grumble a bit and then fall in line, can't risk having our fac's revoked now can we.
Maybe it's time for a bit of civil disobedience, refusing to pay sporting rates as the business no longer exists might be a start.

This is very frustrating I've filled in the survey for what is worth, my business head tells me to vote Tory however this trophy nonsense really pi55es me off, Johnson is a shooting man through and through so why push this bill? I wonder if his ugly girlfriend has something over him, maybe more went on that night when they had a domestic and the police were called and this is the price of her silence?

Just so that I'm sure what I'm talking about, I checked the Lib Dem manifesto for this and other fieldsports issues. Here's what it says:

"(...) legislate to ban the importing of hunting trophies where the hunting does not contribute to environmental protection."

How exactly that would be assessed isn't specified, but given that properly conducted hunting DOES "contribute to environmental protection" and demonstrably so, on the face of it, I can live with this. Not that the Lib Dem policy on this is likely to be much of a worry though.

Anyone know what the SNP stance on firearms ownership is please?

Anti pure and simple, the SNP are no friend of the countryside and use fieldsports successfully to gain support in their ‘class war’ political strategy.

It’s well publicised that a former Scottish Justice Secretary (Jack McConnel - fully supported from within the party) wanted to ban or seriously reduce privately held firearms, they (SNP) still want devolution of firearms legislation- that is for one reason and one reason only.

It’s quite obvious to both camps that the SNP led Scottish Government are sitting on the results of the Werrity Report (into driven grouse shooting) until a time it politically suits them to go for the jugular.

Anyone who doesn’t see what is happening, along with ‘Land Reform’ policies which are still simmering away in the background, are in denial.

So the choice is simple. Vote Lib Dem to maintain your sport or vote to leave the EU with one of the mainstream parties who ALL are against hunting.

It’s always the collateral damage from elections that are the worry not the issue the politicians want to talk about.

Remember Boris has been caught lying so many times it’s an embarrassment, Jeremy is a non starter, and Farage has lived off the fat of the EU for years and won’t give that up to stand for election here (aka a hypocrite).

A vote for Lib Dem is not a wasted vote if it maintains our sport.

I didn't know that. Thank you, PM.
Kind regards,

You’d trust them to honour any pre-election pledge then? Look at what happened to student fees once they got a whiff of the trough in the coalition with the Cameroon Tories

Try a simple word association test, and manifesto = lies, and that’s applicable to any established political party.

Plus, the Lib Dims are natural partners of the Greens, as evidenced by their willingness to stand aside in some constituencies, and have you seen their Animal Rights Manifesto?

Have a look at AR423 - AR425 in that document and kiss your sport and ownership of firearms goodbye!

it’s a valid point and I agree that all manefestoes are lies but I live in what was a Lib Dem strong hold until the Cameron coalition lost the Lib Dem’s any respect. The ones I have talked to are keen to make repair that damage and have a good record in rural communities. Nick Clegg was a card carrying Tory when he was younger and probably not a true Lib Dem more a centre right!

this is something to ask all parties when they come knocking, “I own a rifle and shoot, does your party support me in continuing to be able to enjoy doing this?”
Then vote on their response.

takes the agenda away from the tired Brexit discussion

:thumb: I shall keep my fingers crossed for you b.e. I truly hope you get to vote. Keep us posted..

Would they not have to compensate us all if they do take our guns away?? That's going to be very expensive for them given the value of some guns and rifles

a good point, maybe if they promised to carry out a task previously, and then reneged on it, and got away with it, that might inspire them to try confiscation instead of compensation.
chip,chip,chip.

Let’s face it, we are a minority and there isn’t one party that wouldn’t screw us over for key votes on any other issue of strategic importance to them at the time.

We either have MPs willing to listen and act on evidence or not. I don’t believe any party has a monopoly on that

Only if they take them all away at once. However, I think that the end will come more subtley than that - a gradual paring away of what we're allowed to have, until eventually there's nothing left.
