So Trophy Consultation will look to ban all trophy hunting

it’s a valid point and I agree that all manefestoes are lies but I live in what was a Lib Dem strong hold until the Cameron coalition lost the Lib Dem’s any respect. The ones I have talked to are keen to make repair that damage and have a good record in rural communities. Nick Clegg was a card carrying Tory when he was younger and probably not a true Lib Dem more a centre right!

this is something to ask all parties when they come knocking, “I own a rifle and shoot, does your party support me in continuing to be able to enjoy doing this?”
Then vote on their response.

takes the agenda away from the tired Brexit discussion

BE
Even if they say yes, they can still vote through major restrictions. Yes you can shoot, no you can’t release pheasants, you must scare pigeons away first, no you can’t manage Heather moorland, etc., etc.

That would be convenient for them, re: compensation. Simply outlaw the use of the firearm (eg, deerstalking), without outlawing the firearm itself. Once the "good reason" has gone, no one would be granted a ticket for such a firearm anyway, and they'd all be gone within 5 years (ie, the time taken for everyone to have applied for their renewal).

No, in ‘their’ world that would amount to cultural appropriation - it’d have to be wearing woad and carrying a Bren over here.
I saw a film about that ,, "The Woad Warrior" although I could have been mistaken,, I'm sure he was blue in some film or other?

I cant be the only one that feels like hunting is hard wired into me. I suppose its like being gay (not that I would know). But anyway on that basis the government could get taken to court for discrimination against a minority group. Anybody on here a lawyer???

It must be the most basic human right........ to hunt and gather. And in this day and age, I don't think we should be restricted to spears.
The antis didnt like us using bows thats why we have to use a rifle now. If DEFRA dont throw this out as being stupid they will find themselves in hot water in the human rights court. It classes as belief discrimination. The antis can say the same and so starts the fight that will never end

I suppose one could argue that no one is forcing them to hunt but a ban will deny us of that right

Nobody is forcing Muslims to eat halal meat but there religion tells them to. Just like my human instinct tells me to hunt. Also Im getting sick of the volume of open homosexual things on the TV. I dont complain about it I accept that society is changing and get on with it. Why??? Its because I believe in a society that can be inclusive for everyone just like the shooting community

I'm gay and proud
did you choose to be gay?
of course not, I was born that way.
so you admit to taking pride in something you have no control over.
well I guess yeah.
oh good, I'm a hunter and I'm proud.
I'm sure you have no problem with that.

So the choice is simple. Vote Lib Dem to maintain your sport or vote to leave the EU with one of the mainstream parties who ALL are against hunting.

It’s always the collateral damage from elections that are the worry not the issue the politicians want to talk about.

Remember Boris has been caught lying so many times it’s an embarrassment, Jeremy is a non starter, and Farage has lived off the fat of the EU for years and won’t give that up to stand for election here (aka a hypocrite).

A vote for Lib Dem is not a wasted vote if it maintains our sport.

that’s the way I’m voting!

Johnson is a shooting man through and through so why push this bill? I wonder if his ugly girlfriend has something over him, maybe more went on that night when they had a domestic and the police were called and this is the price of her silence?
Presumably the police would have relieved him of his guns as a result of this domestic............

So you really want to vote for Boris?

FieldSports Channel has askedcthe question directly of Defra

Defra is looking to ban the import and export of all hunting trophies.

So visiting friends who shoot a woodcock won’t be able to take home the pin feathers as momento.

you go on a driven boar hunt, and you wont be able to bring back the tusks.

lets have a change of government - mind choice of Nicola, Jeremy and Boris. **** it i am just going to get the **** out of the uk.

On mature reflection, this might work a bit better than my previous input.
Target marginal Conservative seats in the forthcoming election.
Contact the candidate or their office and advise them that unless this proposal is dropped immediately your valuable vote will be going elsewhere. Nothing concentrates a politicians mind like looming unemployment.
It doesn't take many voters to swing to have a big effect, particularly with your first past the post voting system.

Received this from basc today. So even our “voice of shooting” doesn’t know where it stands.

BASC Council is considering its position on trophy hunting and the hunting trophy consultation options at its next meeting (28th November). We have been in close contact with other organisations in the UK and overseas in considering our approach. We will publish a briefing and encourage people to have their say after the general election. We will also brief newly elected MPs and the government.

Any advice or comments you have would be most welcome. To do so please email BASC’s Head of Deer Management at martin.edwards@basc.org.uk – Martin is leading BASC’s response to the consultation and call for evidence.
